In Acapulco shopping is a major pastime. The Costera is lined with many shopping centers, boutiques selling h igh - f ash ion des igns , jewelry stores, shoe stores,
endless numbers of shops and open-air markets where you can buy many different artcrafts. Guerrero State is known for hand-painted ceramics, objects made from palo de rosa wood, bark paintings depicting scenes of village life and local f lora and fauna, and embroidered textiles. You can also f ind ver y good si lver jewelry.
You can find a way to play in Acapulco’s waters. This is one of the most water toy- laden resor ts around, and there are plenty of places along the bay that offer a wide range of options for everybody and for every age.
Acapulco is a great vacation destination if bring children along. There are many options like: CICI, a water park with toboggans, wave pool, sky coaster, and seals shows. Mundo Marino, with water slides. Parque papagayo, with carnival rides, go-kar ts, roller skating rinks, among other things. And of course, the video game rooms in the major malls.

BEACHES IN ACAPULCO – Caleta and Caletilla, take the glass bottom boat to Roqueta, where you can rent snorkel gear and enjoy dozens of stands and restaurants serving snacks, seafood and refreshments. Tamarindos, watch the fishermen leave in the morning. Condesa, with strong waves that are perfect for skiing and parasailing,
Condesa Beach is famous for the restaurants, clubs, bars and discos. Icacos, here the waves are not too strong, and swimmers can have a lot of fun. Revolcadero, wide beach ideal for surf and ride horses. Barra Vieja, offers a variety of restaurants serving the regional delicacies like “pescado a la talla,” a famous dish here; go on a boat trip or fishing in the lagoon. Pie de la Cuesta, about 45 minutes west of Acapulco, this beach has extremely high waves and is an ideal place to watch the sunset.SAN DIEGO FORT – The Fort was built in 1616 to keep pirates at bay. Today, the Fort houses the Historical Museum of Acapulco, and its galleries tell the story of the area from pre-Columbian to colonial times. Open daily from 9:30 to 6:00. Closed Mondays. MAGICAL MARINE WORLD – The park boasts an extensive display of marine life, a nautical museum, a beach club, a viewing deck with a telescope, a pool with slides, a seal show, a restaurant, and gift shops. Open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.LA QUEBRADA – The popular show, features spectacular dives from a high cliff where divers, sometimes in pairs, plunge 135 feet into the swirling sea below. At night, they carry flaming torches. Enjoy this spectacular sight daily at 12:45 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m., 9:30 p.m., and 10:30 p.m. 365 days a year.CICI WATER PARK – At this water wonderland and fun-filled park,
children will go wild over the water slides, big wave pool, giant water slide, and live show with seals and dolphins, and swim with dolphins. The latest attraction the Skycoaster, diving from more than 100 feet and falling to the earth at 130 kilometers per hour. Open Hours: 10am-6pm daily.Open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.CONVENTION CENTER – The Center includes the Juan Ruiz de Alarcón Theater and meeting rooms for up to 7,000 people, as well as restaurants.
CULTURAL CENTER – With a handicraft store and art gallery, the Mezcala Museum offers pre-Columbian artifacts and the Sports Hall of Fame. Open daily from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.PAPAGAYO PARK – The park has lush gardens, three lakes, an auditorium, a crafts village and restaurants. You will enjoy the life-size model of a Spanish galleon, aviary, roller-skating rink, racetrack and bumper boats in the lagoon, along with many other games and rides. Open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Rides are closed on Tuesdays.
The rocky cliff of La Quebrada was created when part of the hill was blown up by dynamite for construction purposes and since then the diving act began in 1934.

There are 57 different beaches in Acapulco, so you can find which one is your favorite, and simply enjoy it.
SHOTOVER JET – On Papayago River, go for a jet boat ride, and then turn 360º and speed again. ROQUETA ISLAND – Take the glass bottom boat and admire the rich marine life and the underwater shrine of the Patron Saint of Fishermen, the Virgin of Guadalupe. On the island, the trail leads to the lighthouse, and then to the restaurants. The island has quiet
beaches, ideal spots for scuba diving and snorkelingTHE CHAPEL OF PEACE – Located on Las Brisas, 402 meters above sea level, the cross rises 42 meters.PUERTO MARQUÉS –Is a haven for water sports enthusiasts. The new development with houses and condos includes a hotel and a number of colorful restaurants serving regional specialties.TRES PALOS LAGOON – Located near the International Airpor t. The lush tropical vegetation and mangroves along the coast are home to many species of birds and wild animals.COYUCA LAGOON – This jewel hides four little islands. The exuberant tropical vegetation and mangroves are home to over 250 bird species. Hire one of the 15-20 passenger launches and go for a tour. Since the clubs along the
shore offer excellent facilities for water sports.BOTANICAL GARDEN – It is located at an altitude of between 660 and 1300 feet above sea level. You will find native plants and a collection of palms and cycads, desert plants, hardwoods as well as flowering and fruit trees, shrubs, heliconias and gingers, bromeliads, aeroids, ferns and vines among others. PALMA SOLA – The area is blanketed in petroglyphs dating from more than 2,000 years ago and which are believed
to be the work of Acapulco's earliest known inhabitants, named Yopes. You need a guide and driver to get here, the arrangements can be made at El Fuerte de San Diego. Daily 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.MUNDO IMPER IAL – T he For um Enter tainment Center, fatures l e a d i n g - e d g e t e c h n o l o g y , specially-designed acoustics, 4,000 seats and it presents world-class shows. The Congress, Convention and Event Center, aknowledged as Mexicoks convention and exhibition center with the largest column-free area and featuring the most modern equipment and technology in Latin America.And in the near future the complex is going to have an spectacular hotel, a promenade with gastronomic and cultural options, and a spa.

GOLF IN ACAPULCO - Acapulco Princess Golf Course, was designed by Percy Clifford, the course, generally flat, has water hazards on twelve holes, and sand bunkers. Pierre Marqués Golf Course, A difficult course to master because of the strong winds, was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., and
has water hazards on thirteen holes. Mayan Palace Golf Course, is a par 12, 18-hole course on the edge of the ocean; it was designed by Guereka. Tres Vidas Golf Club, this par 72 course designed by Robert Von Hagge is one of the best golf courses in the world; the golf course by the ocean has nine lakes dotted with palm trees and is the home of many species of ducks and birds. Municipal Golf Club, a well-kept 9-hole course lit for nighttime play.
TENNIS IN ACAPULCO - Numerous hotels offer tennis facilities.
FISHING IN ACAPULCO - For deep-sea fishing, sailfish abounds in January, Febr uar y, May, June, July, and December; black and blue marlin in January, May, and December; yellowfin tuna in January, August, November, and December; wahoo in January, February, November, and December; roosterfish, in May April, September, October, November, and December; grouper, snook, barracuda, Spanish mackerel, bonito, pompano, shark, red snapper, and other species abound all year long. Fishing trips can be arranged through your hotel, downtown at the Pesca Deportiva near the dock, across from the zócalo, or through travel agents.The Coyuca Lagoon is just perfect for freshwater fishing.
WATER SPORTS IN ACAPULCO - Waterskiing, it was virtually invented in Acapulco; beginners will love the gentle waters of the Coyuca Lagoon and Puerto Marqués. Parasailing, this is probably the best way you can admire the bay. Swimming, the beaches along the bay are all wonderful, but Caleta, Caletilla, Hornos and Roqueta Island beach are the best for swimmers. Surfing, ride the best su r f a t Revo l cadero Beach . Windsurfing, rentals are available at Caleta Beach, the water sports center
near the Zócalo, and at Boca Chica Hotel. Other sports, banana rides, jet ski and motor boat rides are available at most of the beaches along Costera.
There is a delicious tropical drink with the name of this beach destination. It is a blen of rum, tequila, grapefruit juice, pineapple juice and small pineapple chuncks.

SCUBA DIVING IN ACAPULCO – The best season for diving is from November to February. During this time we have warm waters (82°F) and best visibility. From March to May we have cold waters (75°- 65°F), visibility is affected by plankton, but very nice dives. Piedra del Elefante, Roqueta Island, Las Cuevas, La Piedra del Guano, Palmitas Beach, El Hawaii, the Piedra de la Hierbabuena reefs, and Río de la Plata, a little further down, are the best spots.
SNORKELING IN ACAPULCO – Have fun snorkeling almost anywhere in the bay, but the best spots are near Boca Chica Hotel and on Roqueta Island.
SAILING IN ACAPULCO – Acapulco has a Yacht Club with all the services and the new Internacional Marina, a megaproject with a Nauticall Club, slips for 332 boats, and condominiums.
SKYDIVE IN ACAPULCO – With only 20 minutes of training, you can enjoy the thr i l l of skydiv ing attached to a cer tified Tandem instructor from an altitude of 10,000 feet.
KAYAKING IN ACAPULCO – One option is Coyuca Lagoon for nature lovers, and the stunning Papagayo river, where you can try out the inflatable 2 person kayaks in the class I, II and II plus rapids.
RAFT ING IN ACAPULCO – Experience a descent of 8km in
inflatable rafts through the canyon of the Papagayo River. You navigate your way through the class I, II and II plus rapids along the magnificent natural beauties.
BUNGEE IN ACAPULCO – Feel the adrenaline rush as you plunge in a free 150 feet jump, held only by the feet by a resistant and thick elastic band. Open Hours: 10am-6pm daily
TURTLE PROTECTION PROGRAM IN ACAPULCO – From June through December, visitors can observe the nightly arrival of female turtles that leave the ocean to lay their eggs at Revolcadero Beach and in Pie de la Cuesta beaches. And from October through January you can watch the small turtles returning to the sea.
