From the 11th – 18th, Cyclic
Test was held for Grade 10
Students.
GRADE 10 CYCLIC
On the 11th, teachers met with Parents of Grade 5-9 Students where parents were
informed about their ward’s performance in the first term. Many parents were
notified about the progress of their wards along with their short comings as the
teachers insisted that their performance required improvement for the internal
assessment marks in the upcoming First Term Exams.

CO CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
On the 13th a Movie Show Cum Lunch Programme
was held for Grades 5 & 6 students in the School
Auditorium. The movie that was shown was Wall E,
an anime about an isolated robot with the overall
idea of preserving nature and the environment.
Students then congregated at the School’s cafeteria
to enjoy a delicious lunch. The enjoyed themselves
immensely and later also wrote pieces on Nature and
Environment in their language classes.

YOUNG FOUNDERS SCHOOL
On the 9th, the Bangladesh support lead for Young Founders School, Ms. Sanjida Tanny visited DPS STS School to introduce students to Young Founders School and invite them for the first ever boot camp in Dhaka. Around 300+ students from Grades 8-12 participated in the enlightening session. Students seemed very keen to join the Boot camp scheduled tentatively in October, 2018. The Young Founders School is a non-profit educational entity based out of Hong Kong. They have presence in more than six countries around the globe and are new to Bangladesh. Among other things, the Young Founder School encourages entrepreneurial tendencies among students aged 12-18. They conduct Boot camps and teach aspiring entrepreneurs to make business plans, and pitch them to actual Venture Capitalists.

From the 28th – 9th September, ‘On the Spot Poster Making Competition – Math in Everyday Life’ was held for the Students of Grades
5-7 in Level 6 of the Senior School. Students made beautiful drawings and sketches as they incorporated the value of Mathematics
with designs. They thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to more of such events in the future.
ON THE SPOT POSTER MAKING COMPETITION – MATH IN EVERYDAY LIFE
On the 9th, the 1st DPS Employee Football Carnival was held at the Senior School Football ground. There were a total of 4 teams participating and they were: Team PELE [Captain – Aminul Sir, Team Leader – Ms. Tarana Majid], Team BECKHAM [Captain – Romel Sir, Team Leader – Ms. Shalini Agarwal], Team ZIDANE [Captain – Nahid Sir, Team Leader – Mr. Manoj Kumar] and Team MARADONA [Captain – Sujoy Sir, Team Leader-Ms. Dushani Rajaratnam]. The Tournament was coordinated by Head of IT, Mr. Mostafizur Rahman Mridha. Honourable Principal and Vice Principal met the players and announced the commencement of the Tournament.
It was a fun filled event where the players played enthusiastically and with vigour. The total time of the Tournament was from 3:00pm – 5:35pm and the Winning Team was Team Pele with the maximum number of goals and the Runner up Team was Team Zidane. All the 4 Teams put forth their best efforts and immensely enjoyed the entire Tournament.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF TEACHERS
From the 9th-11th, Mr. Fazlul Haq and Ms. Mahfuja Majumder Happy attended a 2-day Work-in-Group Conference - Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Programme 2018 at Cox's Bazar. Award Leaders exchanged their ideas and expressed their issues about Duke of Edinburgh programme.

Career Counsellor Ms. Lamia Rahman Ahad, was
invited by The U.S. Department of State, Bureau
of Education and Cultural Affairs to visit United
States for three weeks to participate in the
“International Visitor Leadership Programme
(IVLP)” project entitled” Empowering School
Counsellors to Promote U.S. Higher
Education”. The International Visitor Leadership
Programme was designed to provide foreign
leaders and scholars with the opportunity to
meet American colleagues and become better
acquainted with the United States, its culture,
and its people. The major goal of this
programme was to gain further insight into U.S.
higher education institutes' criteria for
international student enrollment.

ERP TRAINING
On the 12th, Head of IT Mr. Mostafizur Rahman Mridha conducted an ERP
Training for all the teachers of the Senior School at the Computer Lab. He
introduced the new features of the Portal along with provide information
about the new app designed by DPS School which is available in the Play
Store for Android users. This app has been designed to facilitate the
Teachers from entering marks and attendance from the ease of their own
homes. It was an enlightening session and all the teachers were pleased to
have attended the training as they greatly benefited from it.

Due to ongoing political disturbances, a lot of students were unable to attend regularly which in turn caused their academics and
attendance to deteriorate. On the 7th, Vice Principal, Ms Madhu Wal had a meeting with the Senior Section Heads to discuss strategies
for compensating for the missed classes due to the political disturbances and worked out a viable strategy which will help students
catch up to the missed work in class.

On the 28th, Principal chaired a meeting with Academic Heads to analyze the Board Results. Vice Principal also attended the Meeting.

CAREER COUNSELLING
On Wednesday, 29th August 2018, representatives from Saint Mary’s University, Huron at Western University and Director, Mr. Shafkat Ahmed Chowdhury, of Canadian University Application Centre (CUAC) along with two counsellors visited DPS STS School, Dhaka and held a presentation session in the Main Hall about university application processes, career opportunities after graduation and residence life in the university. Each of the representative spoke in detail about the facilities and resources available in each university in addition to going over admission requirements, available intake dates. 24 students joined in the session.
Saint Marry’s University is located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. The university is well known as one of the first faculties of commerce in Canada. The University offers over 46 different undergraduate programs Tuition fee is approximately CAD $ $18,410 per annum. Saint Mary’s University and Huron at Western University Visit DPS STS School, Dhaka
Huron at Western University is located at London, Ontario, Canada. It offers Undergraduate programs in the Faculty of Arts and Social Science and the Faculty of Theology. On average, one year University tuition fee will cost approximately $21,000. The University provides Scholarships, work/study opportunities, the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) and additional financial aid. Last year, over 30 percent of students sought and received supplemental funding. This University annually awards $1.5 million in financial aid to those who qualify.
