The Academic Summer Courses at Chelsea Independent College offer you the opportunity to explore your favourite subjects in more depth and gain practical experience in your chosen career field, whilst improving your English and having fun exploring one of the greatest and most international cities on earth with other students from around the world. You will be taught in small groups in a relaxed and collaborative environment, meet leading professionals, take part in interactive workshops and seminars and of course visit some of London’s incredible cultural and commercial attractions. Courses include: Art & Design Visit a working art studio and take classes in Fine Art, Photography, Textiles or Graphics Business & Finance Learn how to trade on the stock exchange and compete in the class business challenge Law, Politics & International Relations Visit London’s highest criminal court: the Old Bailey and prosecute or defend in a classroom trial Medicine Visit one of London’s major hospitals and learn what is required to win a place at medical school in the UK

If you are considering applying to Medical School, our Medical School programme offers you the opportunity to consolidate your academic knowledge, improve your English Language and immerse yourself in the world of Medicine. All of this whilst enjoying the excitement of living in London.

The course combines intensive academic study in relevant subject areas with English Language tuition in context. You will also visit important medical institutions, hear talks from leading consultants and general practice heads, take part in seminars on ethics and dealing with patients, as well as a full programme of social activities.

The course will help you build on knowledge from your current Biology and Chemistry syllabuses and apply it in medical contexts. It will also incorporate debates and discussions on the role of medical professionals in a wider ethical and social context, leaving you well equipped to deal with medical ethics questions at interview and in professional life.

English Language ProgrammeOur English programme has been designed to develop your language ability in your chosen subject area. As well as improving your key skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) you’ll also develop your vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation through interactive small group sessions. Workshops and ActivitiesYour summer course workshops will all be related to your chosen theme allowing you to use the new language and academic skills you have acquired. Our social programme of activities and excursions is all about having fun, making friends and experiencing life in London. Pathways to UK universitiesAll our summer courses include specialist advice on how to get in to top UK universities. We hold individual consultations and group seminars to ensure you receive the counselling you need and provide you with all relevant information to make the best possible choices. This includes sessions on personal statement writing, gaining relevant work experience and mock interview practice. AccommodationWe offer full boarding facilities for students aged 14 or over. Accommodation is contemporary and luxurious, with 24-hour supervision, Wi-Fi throughout the building, fully catered with three meals a-day and free washing and drying facilities.
