Change to UVU Home PageThe text used for the Institution Home page’s

“Academics” link should be replaced with "Schools, Departments and Programs."

The current text used, "Academics" needs to be more explicit to better convey what will be found at that link.

Placing a greater emphasis on this area better serves the core mission of the University and the programs and degrees offered here.

Changes to UVU Logo AreaThe top UVU logo area of the

Departmental/School template takes up too much vertical live space.

We also propose there be the option to choose one of the other logos or seal from the UVU Institutional Logo Style Guide to allow more emphasis to be placed on the featured Department/School while maintaining the university look and feel. Some areas like Business would benefit from being

able to use the more “professional” looking seal on their pages.

More Flexible Banner AreaMore leeway in the height for the

School/Department banner area is needed. The committee requests a flexible/variable height

and width for this banner area within an agreed upon minimum and maximum height.

This area would be used for School and Department pages that need more area to present graphics or other content and media.

A maximum height could be the same region as the Future Students Home page. If this practice is acceptable on one group of pages on the

website, then the committee assumes this option is available for departmental pages as well.

Flexibility in Banner cont.In regard to the full School/Department

banner (including the green title area), height, width and choice in the images (how many and/or position) and type of media presented should be allowed without limitation.

The banner area should have the same flexibility for content and media type as allowed in the main content area.

Access to a Family of TemplatesAs a resource for the Schools/Departments,

the committee proposes that a family of templates be created to allow for variety in layout, structure, content and color schemes from a set of pre-designed color palettes. This resource would be especially valuable for

areas that do not have their own web designers.

Academic areas might assist in adding to available “approved” templates if they have in-house web design support.

Summary of Academic RecommendationsThe text used for the Institution Home page’s

"Academic" link should be replaced with "Schools, Departments and Programs."

The top UVU logo area of the Departmental/School template takes up too much vertical live space. Want logo/seal choice that may narrow height.

More leeway in the height for the School/Department banner area is needed.

A family of templates should be created to allow for variety in layout, structure, content and color schemes from a set of pre-designed color palettes.
