TRANSFER DEGREESAs part of the SUNY system, Clinton credits easily transfer to many SUNY and private institutions. When you complete an Associate of Art (A.A.) or Associate of Science (A.S.) degree following a transfer pathway, you are prepared to enter the partner institution as a “Junior” with only two years remaining to complete a bachelor’s degree. Transfer agreements are listed on the back of this publication, and they are updated on an annual basis and posted to Clinton.edu. Check Clinton.edu for the most up-to-date list.

CAREER DEGREESAssociate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degrees are considered “career degrees.” When you complete an A.A.S. degree you are prepared to step from the classroom immediately into a job in your field. Although not specifically designed for transfer, many A.A.S. degrees still prepare students to transfer or offer transfer options.

CERTIFICATE PROGRAMSCertificate programs can be completed in one year and generally serve as pathways to an associate degree in the same career field. For example, a student who is interested in Nursing may begin by enrolling in the Health Studies Certificate program. Certificate programs also provide skills for specialized fields, such as Payroll for those in the accounting field.

NON-CREDIT & PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONSClinton’s Center for Community and Workforce Development offers a number of professional certification and credential options. These are non-credit options which can be utilized to gain professional advancement or personal growth. Courses are anywhere from a few hours to a few months long, and many programs compliment Clinton’s A.A.S. degrees, providing additional experience for students looking for an edge in the workforce.

At Clinton Community College we offer both TRANSFER and CAREER Associate Degrees as well as one-year CERTIFICATE programs and NON-CREDIT programs.

Distance Learning Options

Honors Program

Clinton Community College students have the option to take courses online, or earn their entire degree online. Online courses have the same content and standards as on-campus courses, but with the flexibility needed by many students who work or have other obligations. Some students simply prefer the interactive methods used in the online learning setting.

The quality of teaching and learning online is as high as on-campus courses, and most students who have taken courses online, say they would do so again. Students take tests, write papers, complete homework assignments, ask and answer questions, and participate in discussions via the internet.

In addition to being able to complete a degree online, online courses also provide the following benefits:

• You can complete most General Education Requirements for other Clinton degree programs online.

• You can complete the first two semesters of most Clinton degree programs online.

• Books and other class materials can also be ordered online through the Campus Store www.bkstr.com/clintonccstore/home.

For further information contact Vicky L. Sloan, the Online Learning Coordinator: (518) 562-4281 • [email protected]

Manufacturing Institute at Clinton

In Spring of 2016, Clinton Community College will be breaking ground on a 30,000 square foot, state of the art facility to house its technology programs. This new facility will also serve as a regional hub for manufacturing education, with flexible teaching/learning space and courses available for manufacturers to advance their workforce.

Beyond access to the new technology facility, Clinton students will also benefit from partnerships with SUNY Plattsburgh and Clarkson University, with opportunities to take courses and further their education, right on Clinton’s campus.

ABOUT THE SUNY2020 GRANT AWARD

Construction of a manufacturing institute was made possible when Clinton Community College and its partners secured $12.7 million through the SUNY2020 challenge grant program. The North Country Regional Economic Development Council (NCREDC) identified aerospace, transportation and manufacturing as a priority cluster for economic development in the region, and the manufacturing institute will expand the capacity of the North Country to serve both the existing businesses while strengthening the regions ability to attract new business to the area.

The program’s philosophy is to support larger systematic economic growth across a large and diverse region of NYS by using a local model that has the ability to be easily replicated by like communities. The North Country Partnership encompasses many of the educational, workforce and economic development agencies and will allow each organization to expand on the services they offer. The partnership includes Clinton Community College, SUNY Plattsburgh, Clarkson University, CITEC, the North Country Regional Chamber of Commerce, North Country Workforce Investment Board, The Development Corporation, CVTEC (BOCES) and a number of area manufacturers.
