    The Academic Scorecard

Most data presented in theAcademic Sco recard co me from data

prev iously collected for OSU Strategic Indicators in academic y ear 19 99-

200 0. Where available, benchmark information is provided. In academic

year 1 997 -98, The Ohio State Univ ersity selected the follo wing

universities as its primary set of benchmark institutions: University of

Arizo na, Univ ersity of California-Los Angeles, Univ ersity of I llinois at

Champaign-Urbana, University of Michigan, University of Minnesota,

Pennsylv ania State University, University of Texas at Austin, Univ ersity

of Washington, and University of Wisconsin-Madison. This set of

benchmark univ ersities is the basis for comparison data reported on the

Acade mic Sco recard. Where inst itutio nal benchmark info rmation is

unavailable, national averages are repo rted if available.

The measures on the Academic Scorecard do not repre sent all specific

actions and goals associated with the Academic Plan. As measures are

refined, the Ac ademic Scorecard may change and evolv e to mo re closely

reflect the specific ac tions, goals, and resourc e allocations implemented

by The Ohio State Univ ersity .

Information regarding the sourc es of data or the calculation of most

measures in the Ac ademic Scorecard can be found in the compre hensive

appendix to the Strategic Indicato rs 2000. The Strategic Indicators 2000document is available for review at:
