ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT AT GORDON’S SCHOOL
Foreword from the Head
We hope that all our students aspire to be the best they can. One way to achieve this is
for them to encounter learning that is increasingly challenging and for them to develop
scholarship and erudition in their preferred subjects. For those with particular interest,
this should involve genuine opportunities to engage with subjects outside lessons, and
to undertake research based activities, in time, working with partner schools and even
higher education institutions.
In support of this initiative, throughout next year, students will receive regular
information about upcoming events both within Departments and across the wider
school which are designed to extend students’ learning and stretch their intellectual
understanding; these will also be published on the school website.
We have also improved our Period 7 provision, introducing a number of academically
enriching activities such as Latin and problem-solving. Students are due to make their
Period 7 choices next week, and activities considered suitable have been identified in
the new Period 7 ebook. I would invite you to discuss these opportunities with your
son/daughter prior to their selection.
If you have any questions, or you have a suggestion for activities we could include in
the future, please do not hesitate to contact Miss J Pierce
[email protected] who will be coordinating our Academic Enrichment
events.
