Academic Dean’s Office (ADO)
SUMMER SCHOOL 2012
SUMMER ACTIVATION (Feb 24 – July 17)
Summer school allows you to• fast-track your degree • make up a failed/withdrawn course• take a pre-requisite for a course you will
need next year, or for a module you want to get into (e.g.: you could take Math 1229A and 1225B in order to meet part of the admission requirement to get into an Economics Major)
• push ahead with a part-time degree• reduce next year’s course load

Before you register, do some planning:• Do you have the prerequisite/s for the course you want? (Read the course description in the Summer Calendar)• Will it fit into your timetable? (Plan on doing at least 2-3 hours of work for every hour you spend in class—summer courses are compressed!)• Will the course be useful to you? Look up your program checklist and general degree requirements. See: King’s Degree Information and Degree Check 101

Summer school advisory
Summer courses are condensed and are consequently extremely challenging. Allow for 2-3 hours of reading time for each hour of class time. You will need to manage your time skilfully. It may be harder than you think to combine a summer course with a heavy work schedule.
Can I take courses away from King’s during the Summer?
• UWO Distance courses require you to write your exams at specific exam centres. If you want to take classes at another University, you can apply for a Letter of Permission (LOP)
• Read up LOP information on the ADO website• Come in to the Academic Dean’s Office to fill out your
form; bring printed-off course descriptions or syllabi to have them pre-approved
• Don’t forget to make sure your transcript gets to UWO when the course has been completed

or not you are taking courses. You need to make sure you meet progression requirements.
2. If you wish to appeal a full-year or second-term course grade or an academic decision from Fall/Winter 2011, the appeal procedure must be started before June 30 2012.
3. If you are ready to graduate at the Fall Convocation, apply to do so through student.uwo.ca by the first week of September.
