    Academic Cup 2011/12

    Terms & Conditions:

    Eligibility:-

    1. All BA Major (i.e. IBBA, BUF, GBS, IBCE, ABS, BBA-JD, IFAA, QFN, HMG, PAC andIQR) undergraduate students of CUHK as Home University are eligible to the entry

    Team Formation:-

    2. Each team should comprise four BA undergraduate students3. Each student can enrol in one team only4. Each team needs to nominate a Captain and all communications will be channelled through the

    Captain only

    Registration:-

    5. Each team needs to enrol once by the Captain at http://www3.baf.cuhk.edu.hk/bba/casecomp/Competition Format:-

    6. A case decided by BA Undergraduate Office (UGO) will be sent to team captain 48 hoursbefore the competition date, i.e. 24th September, 2011, 09:00

    7. Teams are requested to prepare a PowerPoint presentation in English8. No visual aids other than PowerPoint presentation or calculation device is allowed during

    presentation

    9. Each team will have to provide the PowerPoint Presentation to organizer in CD-Rom on thedate of Competition and the CD-Rom will NOT be returned to team after submission at

    registration.

    10. Team is requested to have their spare soft copy to download for presentation.11.

    Teams are expected to arrive at presentation venue(s) at least 5 minutes earlier than theirscheduled presentation time

    12. Each member of the team must participate in the oral presentation and the presentation must bein English

    13. Teams, whether you make it to Final Round or not, are invited to stay for the Final Round atLT6, TCW.

    14. The competition will be divided into two sessions: Preliminary Roundand Final RoundPreliminary Round:

    15. Preliminary round will be divided into 8 divisions16. Teams are assigned to different divisions and order of presentation in the preliminary round

    will be determined by drawing lots upon team registration on 24th

    September, 2011 morning.

    17. Team who does not show up during registration would be disqualified.18. ONLY team who is going to present in the assigned timeslot/lecture room is allowed to remain

    in the room

    19. Teams from the same division other than the team who is presenting are not allowed to stay inthe room to observe

    20. Each team will be required to give an oral presentation in English on the case to followingallocated time:

    Time Activity

    2 minutes (max.) Set up presentation equipment & PowerPoint

    10 minutes (max.) Team Presentation

    21. A 2-minute to-go signage will be raised to alert the teams to wrap up their presentation22. Team will be asked to stop when the allocated time is up and there is NO buffer time.23. Any team who DOESNOT stop will be disqualified automatically24. There is NO Q&A session in Preliminary Round25. Only ONE team will be short-listed from each division as finalist to enter the Final Round

    Final Round:

    26. Finalists from each division are required to present their case again27. Each team will be required to give an oral presentation in English on the case to following

    allocated time:

    5 minutes (max.) Q&A by Judges

    30. The performance of each team will be revised according to following criteria:-A. Organization of presentation (organization of ideas, introduction

    and conclusion)

    B. Appropriateness and clarity of slides 10%C. Presentation style: clarity and articulation, atmosphere 15%

    D. Communication skills 15%E. Identification and analysis of important issues (e.g. problems facing

    the company)

    15%

    F. Strategic Recommendations 15%G. Financial Recommendations 10%

    H. Q&A: Crisp and effective answers to questions posed (for finalround)

    Judges:-

    31. The panel of judges is made up of BA Alumni who are working in the banking and financesector, government, consumer products, consultancies, and/or professors from CUHK.

    Photo-taking and video shooting:-

    32. Photo-taking and video recording will be carried out throughout the course of Final Round33. All team members who are willingly participate in the Academic Cup 2010 hereby grant

    permission to the Undergraduate Office, Faculty of Business Administration, The Chinese

    University of Hong Kong (UGO) and its representatives to take photographs or videos of

    oneself and to make recordings of their voices

    34. In line of this permission, participants to Academic Cup 2010 further grant to UGO and itsrepresentatives the right to reproduce, use, exhibit, display, broadcast and distribute these

    images, recordings and any form of my presentation materials in any media now known or

    later developed for promoting, publicizing or explaining UGO and its activities and for

    administrative, educational or research purposes.
