I am Brandon Price, son of Steve Price

nd Kimberly Kraushaar of Sardis. I am aenior at River High School.

Special recognitions I have received are:ational Honor Society, Kiwanis Scholar,rincipal’s List, PVC Scholar Athlete,OBL All Star (baseball), All-Academicast District Award (Cross Country). I am

he president of the Art Club. My extraurricular activities include cross country,aseball, civics challenge and Quiz Bowl.y hobbies are music and running.

Brandon Price

Renae Riley is a senior at River HighSchool. She is the daughter of Molla andKevin Riley of Powhatan Point.

Renae is a member of the Powhatan FirstPresbyterian Church.

She has earned awards in Principal List,Kiwanis Scholar, All ConferenceAcademic Team, OVAC Varsity Boardmember and PVC Scholar for cheerleadingand softball. She also received EasternDistrict Softball 2011 Division III 1stTeam, Regional Scholar. She is a QuizBowl participant, United States MarineCorps Distinguished Athlete Award recipi-

ent, Ohio High School Athletic AssociationArchie Griffin Scholarship Award recipi-ent, and Scholar Athlete Award for softball.She is in the National Honor Society,Student Council and Art Club.

Renae enjoys being a River varsity soft-ball player and a varsity cheerleader. Shealso attends gymnastics.

old junior at River High School. My par-

ents are Bob and Faye Smith and I have a15-year-old brother, Wesley. We attendZion United Church of Christ.

I graduated from Hannibal Elementarywhere I went to school for nine years. I amvery close to my friends and family. I haveplayed basketball for eight years, ran track for two years and ran cross country lastyears

I take school very seriously and alwaystry my best. I have made either first honorsor Principal’s List many times throughout

school. I also earned a 4.0 this past secondnine weeks. I believe that these academicachievements have influenced why I waschosen for this honor of being an AcademicAchiever. I was also honored as juniorattendant, volunteered for the food drive,tied for first in my sophomore Englishclass. I am secretary of student council andon the junior executive committee.

My hobbies include hanging out withfriends and family as well as vacations to

Myrtle Beach.I am very grateful for being chosen forthis honor and I will continue to do my part

and succeed throughout the rest of myhigh school career and college. I hope that

I will also be able to fulfill my goals ofgraduating from Ohio University with adegree as a physical therapists assistant.

I am Alex Thomas, a junior at RiverHigh School, where I am currently theboys’ basketball statistician. I’ve beenkeeping stats for three years now, and havealso helped out with volleyball stats. I havereceived many academic honors including

Principal’s List for my entire school career,iwanis Scholar, Academic Banquet andhave been previously awarded the

eacon’s Academic Achiever award as areshman. I was part of the Chain Reactionontraption team from River this year andompeted against many other schools atarnegie Science Center.This year I’m being inducted into theational Honor Society and will attendoys State in June. I’m also the Art Club

reasurer.

My favorite classes are math and sci-ence. I plan to pursue a college major inone of these related fields. I’ve beenlessed to have good teachers at Riverigh School and Hannibal Elementary thatave challenged me to reach my potentialcademically.Other activities include Rachel’shallenge Book Club, Spanish Club, Quizowl, Civics Challenge, Ohio Legislativeummit and church youth group. Hobbies

re R/C car racing, reading and videoames.

My parents are Bill and Sheila Thomasof Hannibal. We attend the HannibalUnited Methodist Church.

I think my teachers have chosen me forthis award because I am a good studentand I love to learn new things. I also enjoyhelping others learn, I tutor friends regu-

larly and I also help coach HannibalElementary’s MathCounts team.

My name is Makenna Collins. I am thedaughter of David and Tonya Collins of Sardis and a sophomore at River HighSchool where I participate in both varsitycross country and varsity track. This year Ihave the privilege to serve as vice-presi-dent of my class and work on the Executive

Committee.I am a member of Harmony Hill BaptistChurch in Brownsville, where I am activein the youth ministry. I enjoy teaching chil-dren in Junior Church and Vacation BibleSchool. I also volunteer in the nursery and“Climbers for Christ” Club.

I plan to attend a four-year Christian col-lege and major in elementary educationand writing.

My hobbies include running, reading,drawing and writing poetry and short sto-

ries. I have really enjoyed the challengesthis year in Art II with Mrs. Stephens.

I have received recognition for the fol-lowing: HOBY Ambassador, First Honors,Kiwanis Talent Show Winner, River HighStudent of the Month, perfect attendanceand Awana Clubs Meritorious AwardWinner.

Why do I think I was chosen for thishonor? Good grades don’t come easy forme. Over the years, with lots of family sup-

I am Alex Fankhauser, son of Henry andAmity Fankhauser of Powhatan Point. I’ma sophomore at River High School. Weattend St. John’s United Church of Christ.

I went to Powhatan Elementary Schoolwhere I formed a heavy interest in drumsand other percussion in the fifth grade. Iwas in band at Powhatan from fifth through

eighth grade. I graduated third in my class.In addition, I won the Switzerland of OhioLocal School District Spelling Bee ineighth grade.

At River High School I have been in themarching band playing the snare drum.Also I’ve participated in two talent showswhere I performed on my drums.

In the future, I hope to attend college tobecome a music producer.

I believe I was chosen because I main-

tain a respectable grade point averagewhile participating in extra-curricularactivities. I am a member of the sophomoreExecutive Committee.
