1. Run the .exe called PGPProjectGuid.exe. This file can be found at “C:\Program Files\ABB Industrial IT\Power Generation Portal\bin”.

2. As soon as the executable file is run, a .xml file and a text file is created in the same folder.

3. Copy the ProjectGuids.xml file which was created in the “config” folder of PGP. “C:\Program Files\ABB Industrial IT\Power Generation Portal\Ac800m\config”.

The maximum tag name length should be 20 characters. If it is beyond 20, the builder will ignore those tags. So be sure all tag names are below 20 Char before start the builder.

Now click on the “Build the PGP Databases” button and click “Close”

5. The database has been built and it can be found in “C:\Program Files\ABB Industrial IT\Power Generation Portal\config\tag”

6. Now this .DBF file can be imported as it is into PGP.

7. Until now all the steps have been explained under the assumption that both the “OPC Server for AC800M” and PGP Server reside in the same machine.

For the remote OPC server to communicate with the client, DCOM security settings have to be configured in the remote OPC server.

In the start menu type “ dcomcnfg”. Under Component Services Computer My Computer, select DCOM Config.

Set the Authentication level to “none”.

Under “Security” Tab, Goto Launch and Activation Permissions and select “Customize” and add “Everyone”. Do the same for “Access permissions” and “Configuration Permissio ns”. If there are multiple remote OPC servers, the above mentioned two steps have to be done in each of them.

Now when you start PGP, an OPC instance will be created in the registry for each of the remote OPC servers. This can be found in Registry. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE ABB Power Generation Portal APPS OPC .

When PGP starts, the OPC monitor utility is started automatically. In the OPC monitor window you can find all the OPC servers listed. It also shows whether they are connected or in standby mode. Please ensure OPCEnum service is running. If not, goto start menu and type “services.msc”. Look for OPCEnum service and start it. Note: The Drive path(C:\) mentioned in this document has to be replaced with the drive path where PGP is installed.

Communication through OPC Start the OPC Server for AC800M and add the controllers both in Data Access and Alarm and Event. If the connection has not been established properly, a red circle with a cross mark appears as shown below.

One OPC server can handle only 30000 opc items. Hence if more than 30000 OPC items have to be communicated with PGP, more than 1 OPC servers have to be used. The OPC items that are not needed in HMI can be hidden using the Dataprocessor file present in “C:\Program Files\ABB Industrial IT\Power Generation Portal\config\DataProcessor”.
