Local SEO is a different kind of animal from “normal” SEO. It changes faster
than “normal” SEO and has some very specific nuances and differences you
have to consider to be successful. In this post I will lay out 5 specific tips, that
you can implement on your own, that will help your local business get more
traffic and leads. There’s a lot of information here. If you want to chew on
some of the data I used to research this post head over to this Awesome Post
on local SEO from Moz.com, a definite authority in all things SEO.
5 Tips for Local SEO Successin 2017Here are some ways to think about Local SEO and getting goodtraffic from your website to convert into leads and business.
HERE ARE 5 LOCAL SEO TIPS
1. S1. SEO AUDITEO AUDIT: First things first, you should do a Local SEO Audit. It’s super
important to understand exactly where your business stands in the local online
ecosystem and an in-depth audit is the best way to do that. Neil Patel
recommends some great resources to use to handle this on your own here in
this post: “How To Attract Local Traffic”“How To Attract Local Traffic”.. You can also save yourself the hassle
of auditing your own website by requesting clicking the REQUEST SEO AUDITREQUEST SEO AUDIT
button on our website and filling out the super short form with your request.
2. NAP2. NAP: Make sure that your “NAP”, that’s name, address, and phone number
are consistent across the web. This includes your website, your social media
profiles, Google My Business page, and directories. If you have any outdated
or incorrect information listed in your NAP anywhere it can hurt your ability to
rank locally. If your NAP information is outdated or wrong, it can confuse
consumers AND search engines, which can lose your potential customers and
rankings. Here is an article from Entrepreneur.com, contributed by Neil PatelEntrepreneur.com, contributed by Neil Patel
that elaborates on the importance of the NAP. ACTION ITEMACTION ITEM: Don’t waste
your time claiming your listing on garbage directories, spend the time to claim
listings with the major ones, like reputable review sites and other high-quality
directory sites. Here are links to a few resources which can help you find great

Alternatives.
3. Google My Business3. Google My Business: Make sure you have claimed your business on Google
My Business. Once you have done so make sure to completely fill out your
profile information, keeping in mind that the NAP info here has to be correct.
Take the time to write a quality and original summary of your business. Don’t
forget that adding unique images of your business will help with your local
rankings and click through rates. Vertical Response put together a killer guide
to Google My Business which you can find here: The Ultimate Guide toThe Ultimate Guide to

4. Reviews/Testimonials4. Reviews/Testimonials: Be proactive with reviews. NEVER buy themNEVER buy them. It’s
important that your business has a natural and realistic flow of reviews
coming in. There a lots of review sites out there, but you need to focus in on 1
or 2. I recommend using Google (they love it when you ask customers for
reviews) and Yelp. Be careful, though, Yelp’s terms of service state that you
cannot ask your customers for reviews. However, you can place the Yelp
badge on your website, which will show customers that you are participating
in that review site. For some really great information all about User Reviews
check out this article from Search Engine Watch: The Importance Of UserThe Importance Of User
Reviews For Local SEOReviews For Local SEO.
5. Be Social5. Be Social: Social Signals are becoming more and more important to SEO,
local and otherwise. Take the time to think about where your customers and
potential customers are hanging out in the social media ecosystem. Tailor your
presence on the relevant social networks to speak to them directly and then
engage with them as appropriate. Share pictures of your business, reviews,
specials, and other information on your social media profiles. Make sure to
post content that is relevant and useful to your potential customers and
clients. For example, if you have a heating and cooling business, post tips on
how to get the best use from your central air unit. If you’re a DUI lawyer, post
some tips on how to interact with law enforcement when being pulled over
after having a few drinks. Don’t always sell your business. Share valuable andShare valuable and
educational contenteducational content and not only will it land you customers it will help your
local SEO rankings as well. I found a lot of useful info for my business social
media in this article from Socialnomics.net: 4 Ways To Use Social Media To4 Ways To Use Social Media To

FINAL THOUGHTS
Of course, there are literally hundreds of additional technical and not so
technical factors that can help to increase your local SEO rankings. A lot of
them can be found simply by Googling your specific questions. However,
there’s a lot of noise out there about local SEO––and online marketing in
general––and it can be hard to know who to listen to.
I’ve distilled 5 areas into actionable information that I hope you can apply in
your business. Don’t forget that this stuff changes fast, so it’s important to stay
up to date. Last it takes some time to get all the pieces in place so don't beat
yourself up if you don't get rankings overnight. Good things come to those
who wait... and do the right hustles.

Web Presence Optimization- Modern Digital Marketing
Web Presence Optimization is Here (And HasBeen For A While)
It’s 2017. Everyone with a business knows you need a website. And not just a
run of the mill, template, cookie cutter site either. You want a custom website
solution for your business. Especially in competitive industries. The Internet
has continued to expand and evolve and become more and more ingrained in
the way we live, connect, and do business. So, we have to evolve our online
strategies and image to stay relevant and stay competitive. It’s no longer an
option to “wing it” with your website and online marketing strategy.
Additionally, the line between SEM, SEO, Social Media Marketing, Content
Marketing, and Inbound Marketing continues to blur. They are all part of the
larger whole: Web Presence OptimizationWeb Presence Optimization.
Websites & Blogs, Mobile First Design Mandatory
Before the information age, many people attributed success in business to
“being in the right place at the right time,” or “it’s not what you know, it’s
who you know.” These things can still help but by no means are they the
driving factor of a business succeeding online. In this new Information Age,
you have to be in ALL places at ALL times where your potential clients might
be. This starts with a good website, well branded, well thought out, and built
from the ground up with marketing in mind. Additionally, you need to have a
blog on your site that you publish fresh content too on a regular basis. This
will help to drive your search engine rankings up and get you found more
often. Last, and perhaps most important of all, it is CRITICAL to have a mobile
responsive and mobile optimized website. The mobile revolution isn’t coming.
It's not even here. It's actually ongoing and happening faster every day.
Today, more than half of all Internet access takes place from mobile devices.
What that means for you is that the majority of your customers and potential
customers are looking at your websites and doing searches on your products
and services on their mobile phones and tablets, rather than on their desktops
and laptops. So, when they come to your website what will they see?
Something they have to scan, pinch, zoom, and scroll to MAYBE find what
they’re looking for? Or a beautiful mobile-optimized version of your website
with large, easy to use and read navigation buttons, click to call, click to email,
or Order Online links, simple vertical scrolling, and easily accessible contact
information? It is vitally important not to miss the boat on mobile as you have
less than 6 seconds to capture a visitors attention on a mobile device. What do
your visitors experience when they hit your site on their iPhone or iPad? Punch
your website URL in Google's Mobile Friendly Test, the result might surprise
you.
Social Media, Content, SEO, SEM, Influencer Marketing
Today’s SEO landscape is dramatically different for pretty much every business
vertical out there. SEO is driven simply by this: Create and curate high quality,
original, and relevant content and share on all of your online properties,
including your website, all social media profiles, and your blog. Make sure this
content is high quality and of interest to your target audience. Don’t create
content that would appeal to you. Create and share content that would be
useful, and appeal to your target audience. Today you also have to make sure
to consider timing, location, and context that your audience might be in.
Again the equation is simple, but not easy to execute well: Great Content +
Social Sharing + Contextual Targeting + Great Website & Other Digital
Properties = Good results for SEO, getting your message heard, being found
online, and significantly increasing inbound calls/emails for you to convert to
sales and revenue.
Branding & Corporate Identity
With all of the topics in this article, one thing that really bears mentioning in
your online marketing is when building out your web presence––consistency is
key. You want to have ONE brand, ONE message, ONE Logo. You get the point.
You can’t confuse people by having your posting on Facebook look totally
different than the ones on LinkedIn. You have to make sure that on all
websites, blogs, and social channels you present a unified brand image and
voice. It’s great to have different facets and elements of your brand but make
sure as a whole it’s consistent.
Web Presence Optimization
The term I like to use is Web Presence Optimization. It is the sum of all the
parts of your company’s online identity. Everything from your blog postings,
websites, social media pages and profiles, press releases, articles, paid ads,
directory listings, everything.
Ultimately, we want all the different web properties and elements that
comprise your brand and company to work together towards achieving
common goals: Building your brand; increasing your exposure; deepening and
improving the quality of your relationships with customers and potential
customers; and getting more clients. To really stand out and succeed online,
you have to address all the parts of the whole. You need your web presence to
be top-notch. You need to stand out. Your signal needs to be heard above the
noise. To do this, you must implement a sophisticated Web Presence
Optimization strategy.
