    Objectives:

    I. To study various types of microphones & loudspeakers & to plot frequency response ofLoudspeaker.

    II. To study the need of modulation and Amplitude Modulation and Demodulation.III. To study power saving technique in Amplitude Modulation and generation method of

    SSB.

    IV. To study frequency modulation and effect of noise on FMV. To study properties of receiver TRF and super-heterodyne receiver.

    VI. To study the transmission line and basics of antenna.VII. To understand the concept of telephone.

    Types of Noise, Noise calculation, noise figure, noise temperature.

    II Amplitude Modulation & SSB Techniques:

    Necessity of modulation, Generation of AM frequency spectrum of AM

    wave ,power relation in AM, Balanced Modulator, Generation methods

    of SSB, Pilot carrier systems ISB,VSB.

    III Frequency Modulation:

    Mathematical representation of FM, Frequency Spectrum, Phase

    modulation, comparison of FM and PM, Noise triangle, Pre-emphasis,

    de-emphasis, Comparison of wide band and narrow band FM,

    Stereo phonic FM multiplex system, Generation methods of FM.

    IV Radio Receiver:

    Receiver types, AM receiver, Communication receiver, FM

    receiver,Single and independent Sideband receivers.

    V Radiation and Propagation of Waves & Transmission Lines:

    Electromagnetic Radiation, : Ground Wave, Sky Wave, Tropospheric

    Scatter propagation, Extraterrestrial Communication, Bands and

    services. Fundamentals of Transmission lines, Characteristic

    Impedance, Losses in Transmission lines, Standing waves, Quarter and

    Half wave length lines, Reactance property of Transmission lines, Smith

    chart and its application. Transmission line components (Stub,

    directional coupler, Baluns, slotted lines).

    VI Telephony:

    Baasic components of telephone network, components of subscriber
