Introduction to the International AdvisoryCouncill

T he Internatjonal Advisory Council (IAC) serves the gay and lesbian members

of A A Our sole purpose fOf existing is to provide our experience strength and hope to any arm of AA when called upon to do so and to work in the spirit of UNITY and SERVICE with AA for the betterment of the gay and lesbian members and AA as a whole OUf function is not that of a policy or decision making board in matters afffecting gay and lesbian members of AA nOf is our function to isolate or separate ourselves from the mainstreanl of AA

CHARTER OF THE INTERNATIONAL ADVISORY COUNCIL The International Advisory Council for gay and lesbian members of A A is listed in all AA directories under Special International Contacts It was established in 1981 to serve and have the involvement oftbe lesbians gay men and gay people in A A regardless of how they choose to identity themselves

The Council exists to serve lesbians and gay men in AA It does not speak for all gay and lesbian A A members but strives to serve as a communication link not only between and amoung gay and lesbian groups but also with AA as a whole This communication occurs within the context provided by AAs Traditions and the Fellowshipss customs and procedures

IAC does not receive any financial support from the General Service Office We are self-supporting from the contributions of A A groups and individuals whom we serve

Among lACs current activities are the following

DIRECTORY - Compiling publishing and distributing a world directory of gay and lesbian AA meetings Suggested donation is $5 00 per copy available from address provided below with a quantity discounted price of$3 00 per copy for orders of 10 copies or more

GROUP NEEDS -- Providing experience strengtb and hope in assisting and supporting gay and lesbian AA groups around the world in such matters as starting meetings and groups relationships

with local intergroup offices and their place within the service structure

LONERS - Correspondence program for gay and lesbian loners who are AA members not having local access to a gay and lesbian AA meeting but who nevertheless wish to be in contact witb other gay and lesbian A A members The matter of gay contacts among alcoholics in the Armed Services and the incarcerated is also a concern of the Council

NEWSLETTER -- Publishes lACtivity a quarterly newsletter which features current news and infonnation on International Advisory Council activities Provides a forum for sharing by gay and lesbians in AA and includes a calendar of upcoming Roundups and events

ROUNDUP LIAISON -- Provides communication between International Advisory Council and Roundups Prepares and distributes lAC information to Roundups and makes available an information packet Maintains an up-to-date calendar of gay and lesbian Roundups internationally

room We had the oppornmity to use your service and met lots of people there It was a great convenience to have a place where we could meet and reshygroup We really appreciate your being there for us

Introduction to the International AdvisoryCouncill

T he Internatjonal Advisory Council (IAC) serves the gay and lesbian members

of A A Our sole purpose fOf existing is to provide our experience strength and hope to any arm of AA when called upon to do so and to work in the spirit of UNITY and SERVICE with AA for the betterment of the gay and lesbian members and AA as a whole OUf function is not that of a policy or decision making board in matters afffecting gay and lesbian members of AA nOf is our function to isolate or separate ourselves from the mainstreanl of AA

CHARTER OF THE INTERNATIONAL ADVISORY COUNCIL The International Advisory Council for gay and lesbian members of A A is listed in all AA directories under Special International Contacts It was established in 1981 to serve and have the involvement oftbe lesbians gay men and gay people in A A regardless of how they choose to identity themselves

The Council exists to serve lesbians and gay men in AA It does not speak for all gay and lesbian A A members but strives to serve as a communication link not only between and amoung gay and lesbian groups but also with AA as a whole This communication occurs within the context provided by AAs Traditions and the Fellowshipss customs and procedures

IAC does not receive any financial support from the General Service Office We are self-supporting from the contributions of A A groups and individuals whom we serve

Among lACs current activities are the following

DIRECTORY - Compiling publishing and distributing a world directory of gay and lesbian AA meetings Suggested donation is $5 00 per copy available from address provided below with a quantity discounted price of$3 00 per copy for orders of 10 copies or more

GROUP NEEDS -- Providing experience strengtb and hope in assisting and supporting gay and lesbian AA groups around the world in such matters as starting meetings and groups relationships

with local intergroup offices and their place within the service structure

LONERS - Correspondence program for gay and lesbian loners who are AA members not having local access to a gay and lesbian AA meeting but who nevertheless wish to be in contact witb other gay and lesbian A A members The matter of gay contacts among alcoholics in the Armed Services and the incarcerated is also a concern of the Council

NEWSLETTER -- Publishes lACtivity a quarterly newsletter which features current news and infonnation on International Advisory Council activities Provides a forum for sharing by gay and lesbians in AA and includes a calendar of upcoming Roundups and events

ROUNDUP LIAISON -- Provides communication between International Advisory Council and Roundups Prepares and distributes lAC information to Roundups and makes available an information packet Maintains an up-to-date calendar of gay and lesbian Roundups internationally

Also plan to attend the lAC Council meeting at 4pm Friday June 30 in the Hospitality Suite We will be electing new lAC officers to serve the next two years We will host the biggest GayfLesbian dance ever lOpm Saturday July) at the Town and Country Hotel 500 Hotel Circle North

Plan time to volunteer fo r service We need 13 5 hospitality room volunteers two hour shifts five people on each shift at least 10 people to work at the door at the dance 12 people for floor duty at the workshops 10 people to clean up the Hospitality room Sunday morning 167 volunteers minimwn for these positions

Introduction to the International AdvisoryCouncill

T he Internatjonal Advisory Council (IAC) serves the gay and lesbian members

of A A Our sole purpose fOf existing is to provide our experience strength and hope to any arm of AA when called upon to do so and to work in the spirit of UNITY and SERVICE with AA for the betterment of the gay and lesbian members and AA as a whole OUf function is not that of a policy or decision making board in matters afffecting gay and lesbian members of AA nOf is our function to isolate or separate ourselves from the mainstreanl of AA

CHARTER OF THE INTERNATIONAL ADVISORY COUNCIL The International Advisory Council for gay and lesbian members of A A is listed in all AA directories under Special International Contacts It was established in 1981 to serve and have the involvement oftbe lesbians gay men and gay people in A A regardless of how they choose to identity themselves

The Council exists to serve lesbians and gay men in AA It does not speak for all gay and lesbian A A members but strives to serve as a communication link not only between and amoung gay and lesbian groups but also with AA as a whole This communication occurs within the context provided by AAs Traditions and the Fellowshipss customs and procedures

IAC does not receive any financial support from the General Service Office We are self-supporting from the contributions of A A groups and individuals whom we serve

Among lACs current activities are the following

DIRECTORY - Compiling publishing and distributing a world directory of gay and lesbian AA meetings Suggested donation is $5 00 per copy available from address provided below with a quantity discounted price of$3 00 per copy for orders of 10 copies or more

GROUP NEEDS -- Providing experience strengtb and hope in assisting and supporting gay and lesbian AA groups around the world in such matters as starting meetings and groups relationships

with local intergroup offices and their place within the service structure

LONERS - Correspondence program for gay and lesbian loners who are AA members not having local access to a gay and lesbian AA meeting but who nevertheless wish to be in contact witb other gay and lesbian A A members The matter of gay contacts among alcoholics in the Armed Services and the incarcerated is also a concern of the Council

NEWSLETTER -- Publishes lACtivity a quarterly newsletter which features current news and infonnation on International Advisory Council activities Provides a forum for sharing by gay and lesbians in AA and includes a calendar of upcoming Roundups and events

ROUNDUP LIAISON -- Provides communication between International Advisory Council and Roundups Prepares and distributes lAC information to Roundups and makes available an information packet Maintains an up-to-date calendar of gay and lesbian Roundups internationally

Hospitality Room will be in the Embassy Suites Hotel Atrium and Ballroom It will be open from 12 noon Thursday June 29 through lO am Sunday July 2 The Hospitality Suite will be closed each night at J am and reopen at 8am There will be three gay and lesbian workshops

Also plan to attend the lAC Council meeting at 4pm Friday June 30 in the Hospitality Suite We will be electing new lAC officers to serve the next two years We will host the biggest GayfLesbian dance ever lOpm Saturday July) at the Town and Country Hotel 500 Hotel Circle North

Plan time to volunteer fo r service We need 13 5 hospitality room volunteers two hour shifts five people on each shift at least 10 people to work at the door at the dance 12 people for floor duty at the workshops 10 people to clean up the Hospitality room Sunday morning 167 volunteers minimwn for these positions
