High School Credits {Earned in Middle School}

Middle school students can carry over a maximum of 4 high school credits:• Computer • Math• Foreign Language

Students must earn a 77 or better to earn high school credit in middle school. Students wishing to

retake a course must drop their middle school grade by fall of their freshman year.

• English I Honors– Students are expected to

complete nightly homework outside of class

• Biology I College Prep– Students will complete lab

write-ups and assignments during class

• Biology I Honors– Preparation and follow-up

for labs is completed outside of class

Recommendations are made for class placement based on student test scores and grades.

Falcons in Flight• Based on test scores and transcript grades,

selected students are invited to be part of our FiF Program. – Core classes meet daily for 60 minutes– Classes have no more than 15 students– You are part of a group who work together to

support their success– FiF students take Foundations and Structure of

Algebra, English I CP, Biology I CP, plus four other courses

Advanced Placement• College level coursework • Students can earn college credit by making a

qualifying score on the AP exam• Open enrollment (use student data to help

make recommendations)• Freshmen – AP Human Geography• Sophomores – AP World History• Juniors and Seniors – multiple offerings in all

core subjects, foreign languages, and fine arts

International Baccalaureate Mrs. Tate

• Academically rigorous program• Two programs: IBDP and IBCP • Both require students to complete their basic graduation

requirements (PE, Health, etc.) before entering their junior year.

• IBCP – have to have an interest in business and attempt challenging coursework in 9th and 10th grade

• IBDP – 3 credits of foreign language, successful completion of Algebra II honors, success at the honors or AP level

Schedule ChangesPlease remember the master schedule is based on student requests from the previous spring.

Therefore, changes made after a student is scheduled are very difficult or impossible.

Many elective courses must be pre-selected, and therefore, must be identified appropriately.

High School Scholars{District Recognition}

Course Requirements:• English (AAP/AP or IB) 4 units• Math (AAP/AP or IB) 4 units• Science (AAP/AP or IB) 4 units• Social Studies (AAP/AP or IB) 4 units• Foreign Language 3 units• Fine Arts Appreciation 1 unit(or 3 units of high school credit in a specific arts or combination of arts courses)• PE/ROTC 1 unit• Electives 9 unitsTOTAL 30 units

Required Assessment

End of Course Exam: This exam counts 20% of the student’s

final grade.

Students will be tested in:• English I• Algebra I• Biology• US History

Course Selection DatesIndividual meetings with AC Flora Counselors will be held in the

Old Gym from 4:00-7:00 on the follow dates:

• A-G – Tuesday, March 3 and Thursday, March 12• H-P – Wednesday, March 4 and Tuesday, March 10• Q-Z – Thursday, March 5 and Wednesday, March 11

Drop-ins are welcome to come to the AC Flora Guidance Office on Friday, March 13 from 8:00-3:00 or by appointment.
