ABSTRACT Background : Anemia is one of nutritional disorders which still becomes community health problem in the world. Teenage girls were prone to anemia because of the increase of iron needs during developmental age and to the bloodloss during menstrual periods. Anemia would decreased the immunity system and the endurance of the body, making easier to be exposed to disease, reducing activities, and learning performance. As the teenage girl grow older and becoming an anemic mother, this condition would make a great impact to health condition during pregnancy and delivery. The strategy which might been done to lower the prevalence and solving the operational problems are weekly supplementation of combined vitamin A and SF. The objective of this study was to examine the differential effect of weekly supplementation of vitamin A and sulfas ferosus compared with weekly supplementation of SF to hemoglobin level of teenagers girl with anemia. Methods : This study was an experimental study using pre-test and post-test double blind RCT. 52 teenage girls aged between 16-18 years old were choosed using simple random sampling method from three high school at Surakarta. Supplementation were given for 9 weeks. The technique for data collection were done using direct interview, hematology test, anthropometry measurements, and questioner. Data were analized using independent t-test SPSS program version 22 with significant value p < 0,05; CI: 95%. Result : Characteristics of the subjects on the age average of vitamin A and weekly SF supplementation group were 16,76 years old, while the SF group were 16,61 years old, with age range between 16-18 yearsold. The BMI average of group a were 18,93 and group b were 19,17 which was within normal value of teenage girls nutritional status. The average of haemoglobin value before

The average of haemoglobin value before exposure in group A 11,06 g/dl and group B 10,97 g/dl. There were significant difference of the effectivity weekly supplementation combined Vitamin A and SF compared with SF alone, the average are 0,43 g/dL CI 95% (0,30, 0,56) higher on the haemoglobin level of the teenage girls.

Conclusion : There are significant difference effect of weekly supplementation of vitamin A and sulfas ferosus compared with weekly supplementation of SF on hemoglobin level of teenagers girl with anemia from three high school at Surakarta.
