ABSTRACT

When the author did On the Job Trainning at PT. Chakra Jawara Tbk Branch Office

of Balikpapan, he was found a case where there were damages happen on Iveco

truck’ s differential that uses carbon washer before 2013. Then the company did an

improvement by replacing washer material from carbon to bronze. And it was

success to make a number of differential damage which caused by using this washer

decreased in next year, therefore, he decided to take this case as a title of his final

task report. The author was studied the reason of that improvement and its effect for

Iveco’s truck lifetime. For this final task, he was collected research data through

observation, documentation, literature in collecting of his materials. The data was

collected, he compared between the use of carbon and bronze. It can be found a

conclusion why this action must be taken. Because of this carbon washer can make a

damage on differential worse, from this fact then the company recommend to replace

carbon washer to bronze washer. This washer has a number of advantages better

than one, carbon washer, it can receive shockload from a unit so level of its damage

can be decreased and from economic aspect, it cheaper than carbon. So cost of

replacing can be decreased too.
