A JOURNEY IN THE MOMENT

The LUMIX G6 is designed to let you bring home those special “moments” that you encounter in your travels. Its advanced mobility and superior imaging performance further enhance each journey you take because it’s a travel partner you can always count on. So go ahead, start exploring the magnificent world around you with the LUMIX G6 in hand.

In 2008, a small single lens camera made a huge impact. It was called mirrorless, and the brand was LUMIX G. The mirrorless structure created an entirely new relationship between photographers and cameras. LUMIX G will continue to use advanced technologies to revolutionize cameras.

The DMC-G6’s sensor boasts high resolution and high sensitivity image recording with minimum noise generation. Panasonic adds its original pixel mix technology to the sensor to maximize the speed advantage native to the CMOS sensor. The current process is designed exclusively for the digital Live MOS sensor to minimize the noise generation. The fine wiring around the photodiode achieves a high aperture ratio, which results in high resolution and an excellent S/N ratio while a high-performance transistor provides high-speed signal processing.

The optimum design of the newly adopted Detail Reproduction Filter Process enhances the resolution limit by a maximum of 3% and the contrast of the middle to high range by a maximum of 5%. This heightened resolution delicately reproduces the details of landscape shots.

The new Venus Engine features advanced noise reduction systems. By extending the control level

of the noise, the controllable area of the noise is dramatically expanded by approximately 64x in size. This makes it possible to remove large blocks of noise, which were formerly difficult to detect. To the viewer, it appears as clear, smooth images - especially in nighttime scenery.

The Multi-process NR (Noise Reduction) works in two separate steps allowing even finer control over the noise level. The texture of the noise itself, regardless of the noise size, is improved with this deliberate control. Attractively smooth skin tones are reproduced, even in high-sensitivity recording.

Featuring Advanced NR SystemsVenus Engine

The advanced Intelligent D-range Control offers a wider dynamic range while maintaining the smooth gradation thanks to high-precision signal processing. Suppressing both blocked shadows and blown highlights, every part of an image – from dark to bright – is faithfully reproduced.

High Precision High Speed Usable in More Situations Versatility of Control

Of the 11 signal contacts in the Micro Four Thirds System standard, one serves exclusively for Contrast AF. This enables high-speed communication between the camera and the lens and improves AF speed.

The Low Light AF in the DMC-G6 gains higher performance in situations such as moonlight even without an AF assist lamp to focus on the subject more precisely.

You can quickly change the focus mode: AFS, AFF, AFC, and MF. The AFF (AF Flexible) mode locks the focus on the subject when the shutter button is half-pressed. It also resets the focusing as the subject moves.

The DMC-G6 has a variety of AF modes for virtually any shooting situation – such as Pinpoint AF, 1-area AF, 23-area AF, AF Tracking and 1-area AF in Face Detection. The Pinpoint AF function allows more precise focusing by further enlarging the focusing area.

LUMIX G offers a lot of advantages for manual focusing, such as AF + MF, MF assist, MF guide, and Peaking. You get highly detailed focusing.

With the LUMIX G, wobbling is fast and fine, so AF is smooth and precise. Along with high-speed, silent AF made possible by using a high-speed, silent motor in the lens, the LUMIX G is even more suitable for video shooting.

In addition to its high precision, Contrast AF makes it possible to focus on subjects in a corner of the frame. Combined with the Full-area Touch AF, it is possible to set focus on any point in the field of view which realizes quick and intuitive focusing operation with free frame composition.

Devoting Panasonic’s utmost efforts to software and mechanical aspects, LUMIX G features high-speed AF. The camera’s algorithm shortens the focus search time, and the stepping motor actuator also eliminates time loss. The combination of the software algorithm and the lens drive system enables remarkable focus speed and 5 fps burst shooting with AF tracking.

Smooth Focusing

Higher AccuracyEven with a Bright Lens Mounted

The Contrast AF boasts higher accuracy even in shooting at small F value. Focusing of the Contrast AF is controlled by the image sensor so that no mechanical margin of error occurs to achieve precise focusing.

Smooth focusing is achieved by high-speed communication between the camera and the lens.

Intuitive ShootingAgile MobilityThe LUMIX G6 responds precisely to virtually every shooting style, whether you are shooting outdoors on a bright, sunny day, following a moving subject, or focusing on the tiniest of details.

Comfortable shooting styles. This sophisticated design stabilizes your shooting posture so you can concentrate on each and every shot.

The free-angle monitor brings greater freedom to your framing, to expand the boundaries of your imagination.

The image output between the LVF and the rear monitor is automatically switched by the eye sensor on the LVF. The same sensor also serves for the Eye Sensor AF, which automatically starts focusing when the user looks into the EVF to capture spur-of-the-moment shots.

The large new 3.0-inch, approx. 1036K-dot high-resolution monitor rotates 180° to the side and tilts 270° up and down boasting a field of view of approx. 100%. The front panel is directly attached to the new In Cell Touch LCD without any air layer in between. The result is that the reflection of external light is dramatically suppressed. Together with the increased resolution and improved color reproduction, the monitor for the DMC-G6 secures higher visibility under bright conditions. Plus, attenuation of the transmitted backlight is minimized to achieve a wide angle of view and 25% power reduction.

The newly adopted Touch AE (Auto Exposure) function lets you set the appropriate exposure by simply tapping the subject displayed on the monitor.

The function lever allows direct adjustment of the allotted function - zoom,* exposure or aperture** control. This lever works for magnification in playback mode and page flip in menu.

The Touch Pad function lets you use both the LVF and the monitor simultaneously for more intuitive shooting.

The DMC-G6 boasts quick response featuring high-speed burst shooting at 7 fps in full resolution. Ready to shoot in only 0.5 sec* after start-up, the DMC-G6 never misses those fleeting photo opportunities together with its high-speed, high-precision Light Speed AF.

Expand Your Photo Expression with Interchangeable Lenses

High-performance LUMIX G lenses are developed and manufactured by applying a variety of industry-leading technologies, starting with aspherical lenses that prevent spherical aberration and other types of distortion, and including a Nano Surface Coating that suppresses ghosts and flaring.

LUMIX G can be used to record high-quality videos. Panasonic’s new “silent design” lenses have dramatically reduced the amount of noise recorded during focusing, zooming and aperture operation. From wide-angle to telephoto, they let you enjoy the expressive power of a system camera in shooting HD videos.

The mirrorless structure of LUMIX G made it possible to shorten the flange back distance to about half that of previous models, while also reducing the diameter of the lens mount. This has downsized both the body and the lens.
