Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing2022

ABSNABSN

Ready to Join a Rewarding Profession as a Nurse?

Nursing is a profession that demands sophisticated knowledge, strong decision-making skills, and a high degree of compassion

for humankind. In return, nurses experience respect, an unrelenting demand for their services, and the opportunity to make a

difference in the lives of others.

The 12-month ABSN program is the fastest route to a nursing career for students who already have a bachelor’s degree in a

non-nursing field. The curriculum integrates real-world learning through simulation and clinical education with the latest healthcare

research and lecture and laboratory instruction. In addition to on-campus simulation opportunities, SMU maintains contracts with

more than 100 institutions in Northern California for clinical rotations, which provide students with a broad and diverse exposure to

nursing, multicultural health practices, and the most recent healthcare research. At the culmination of the program, graduates are

prepared for practice in hospitals, intensive care units, pediatrics, maternity, emergency rooms, and medical-surgical units.

Why choose Samuel Merritt University?

1 SMU’s average graduation rate for the past three years ranged from 93%-95%.

2 Our Health Science Simulation Center is one of only three centers west of the Mississippi to receive national accreditation—a testament to the quality of the HSSC—and is where you’ll learn critical skills before ever working with real patients.

3 8:1 Student to Clinical Faculty Ratio.

4 95% of 2018–2019 graduating class was employed as a nurse within 1 year of graduation.*

* Employment data only includes graduates who responded to SMU Alumni Survey; employment

rate not necessarily representative of graduates who did not respond to SMU Alumni Survey.

94% of ABSN first-time test takers passed the 2020 NCLEX

licensure exam
