abraham lincoln is best known for being president and freeing slaves.

Abraham suffered many hardships. he was born in kentucky in a log cabin. When Abe was a boy he was poor. his chores were sweeping the fireplace and getting water from the creek. one day he fell into the creek but he did not know how to swim! His friend saved him! he was also kicked in the head by a horse once.

Another hardship was when he was 9 his mom died and his sister died with a baby in her stomach when he was 19. then during the Civil war his son Willie

Abe was bullied his whole life, too!

Even though he was poor and had to use a knife as a pencil and a log as paper, he used dust as paper and a mop as a pencil. he got an education. He had to work so he couldn't go to school. He didn't even get to go to school for even one whole year!

He wanted to learn.

He wanted to be a lawyer. That was his dream. He walked 17 miles to watch the lawyers work. his parents wanted him to go to school, but he had to do some work to help his family. He took a book while he was working in the fields.

he had to get an education.

I think he wanted

Abraham always thought about others, even animals. he hated hunting.

Once when he was young he got 6 cents extra after buying something at the store so he walked 12 miles to return the money at the general store.

When he was older he fought hard to free the slaves.

Page 6: Abraham Lincoln - Luke M

Abe took a risk when he became President, because he said he would free the slaves. Some people wanted slaves.

Abraham made speeches. he became president and freed the slaves. he went to a play after he freed the slaves and after the south lost. a man who thought the south should have slaves shot him there.

Page 7: Abraham Lincoln - Luke M

The biggest problem ABraham faced as president was slavery. He never gave up on

freeing slaves. he felt bad about slavery because people were spending their whole life as slaves. he wrote the emancipation proclamation to free slaves because it is wrong to own another person. HE WrOTE THIS during the civil war, a war just to decide on slaves or no slaves.

The south fought the north. The south wanted slaves and the north didn't. The south didn't set their slaves free when abe said to, because it wasn't their country anymore. They set their slaves free when they went back into one country, after the north won and the south lost the war.abraham problem solved the civel war.

I think that this was a hard time, because the whole time he

was President the war was going on, and his kids were

sick at the same time!

If abe never existed there would be slaves, because he shut it down when he made the emancipation proclamation. There would be no thanksgivings on thursday, because he made that an official holiday. Our country would be half a country.

A changemaker is someone who changes the world because they want the world to be a better place.

A slave is someone who is owned by another person. They are treated badly, like a piece of dirt, or a thing, not a

person.

TO make someone free. like Abraham freed the slaves.

the war between the north and the south, in our country.
