Piran Consulting is a specialist organisation dedicated to developing human capital. We engage with and offer specific, tailored solutions for our clients, as well as publicly available facilitated workshops, and online learning.

HISTORY

Piran Consulting was established in 2013 to fill a gap in the market for development and consulting centred on human capital. With a desire to provide new ideas and solutions for people, organisations and groups, we strive to understand your needs and wants before implementing practical solutions for growth.

Piran is based in Singapore but offers services across the entire Asia Pacific region. With a background covering projects based in a wide variety of international locations, we understand geographic and cultural concerns and focus on minimising problems which may arise.

Piran Consulting is a Corporate Member of the Singapore Training and Development Association (STADA).

Piran Consulting specialises in offering training solutions centred in personal and professional development. Our solutions are available for individuals and groups, and can be tailored to suit the demands and needs of those we are working with.

TRAINING METHODOLOGY

Professional facilitators carry out our training with well-developed group and classroom management skills in a non-critical environment, which encourages individuals to practice skills that are being taught. We do not sit individuals down and talk through a stack of PowerPoint slides; we engage them and discuss core ideas and concepts to bring out ideas and energy, cementing the business, leadership, and management principles we are promoting. We do not focus on an unattainable set of KPI’s, but rather achievable principles that can be readily utilised, adapted, and developed in an everyday working environment.

Discussion points and simulations, aligned with a structured training plan and real life scenarios, allow individuals to develop the skills necessary for success. Handbooks will be used, but individuals are encouraged to make use of the sessions to take their own notes, practising the vital skills which are vital in their role, learning how to process and store information which they will later be required to recall and implement for continued success and business growth.

Piran Consulting works with your organisation to develop an advanced Learning & Development framework for your employees. We spend time with key stakeholders to ascertain individual and group development targets for a multi-year period. Our plans are built following a consultation period with internal staff, management, employees, and key, relevant stakeholders, such as Human Resources. An on-site information gathering session would be used (between 0.5 and 2 days), where confidential interviews with individuals from across various user groups will allow the relevant information to be compiled, so the training plan can be fully customised for the relevant user groups. Piran Consulting would use the information gathered to design and deploy a training plan, using a Skills & Training Matrix, and linked to the annual training calendar and individual development plan. This calendar would be updated internally and can be used on a rolling basis to continually track, monitor, and enhance, individual learning needs and competency criteria. This allows a useful point of reference when on-boarding new personnel, not only to see where they fit into the current cycle of training given their previous work experience, but also during the interview process, as an initial assessment can be made related to the skills we would expect them to possess prior to their successful placement.

Sam Gibbins

Sam is based in Singapore and brings an extensive background in sales, marketing, competency coaching, leadership, and professional training to Piran Consulting. He spends time in numerous jurisdictions carrying out engagements for a wide variety of different stakeholders, so is well placed to provide solutions for your needs. Sam has, and continues to, train clients under the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ) framework. He has worked on course and content design, development and delivery under multiple competency standard frameworks, including the Institute of Banking and Finance Standards (formerly FICS). In recent years, Sam has helped establish a number of financial services Compliance Academies. A qualified adult educator, possessing the Advanced Certificate in Training & Assessment (ACTA) from the Institute of Adult Learning (Singapore), Sam is also a registered Enrichment Trainer with the Ministry of Education (Singapore). He holds a Diploma in Anti Money Laundering (Dip.AML) from the International Compliance Association, as well as being a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (International) with the Society of Corporate Compliance & Ethics. He is a member of the Singapore Training & Development Association (STADA), Singapore Institute of Directors, the Adult Education Network (AEN), and a member of the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Singapore. Sam is also a member of the International Compliance Association (ICA). He is a certified Leading Dimensions Profiling trainer, accredited by Leading Dimensions Consulting. He possesses a BA (Hons) from King’s College, University of London.

As well as managing Piran Consulting, Sam also consults for Hummingbird Pte Ltd and Walter Brooks Pte Ltd, and runs workshops for the Financial Training Institute at the Aventis School of Management.

Tony Brown

Tony is best described as a ‘leader, administrator, controller, educator and motivator’. His passion for management mastery and life-long learning coupled with his 30 years’ service management experience has equipped him with the skills to deliver exceptional coaching and training outcomes for small and large business.

With over 25 years business management and teaching experience in both the commercial and education sectors, Tony’s career began in international hotel management and has led to various roles, projects and awards, including Financial Controller at Royal Pines Resort, postgraduate and undergraduate lecturer with the School of Business & Tourism at SCU, project collaboration with GCCC, business consultant to several SME’s, current owner of Beeba Hair Coolangatta (Australia’s first Paul Mitchell Focus salon) and currently Deputy Chair of the Tugun Community Bank.

More recently, he has established a training platform to provide consultative and contracted services to the training industry and have worked with several well respected Gold Coast based VET colleges (including TAFE, Martin College and Academique).

Tony’s greatest passion is to inspire life-long learning and help equip aspiring managers and business owners with the tools and knowledge to be successful in their chosen fields.

The Mastery Sessions establish learning and development benchmarks for professionals in the service industry. Theoretical perspectives and practical tools are used to 'paint a picture' of the ideal 'master' manager allowing learners to measure their individual level of competence and develop an industry specific professional development plan.

As the service industry continues to grow, an incredible number of service managers are dedicating long hours to their trade. Many managers and supervisors have climbed the corporate ladder through hard work and determination. These professionals generally have excellent operational skills and a sound understanding of their management responsibilities.

As they move towards senior management though (and maybe business ownership), some of the higher order skills of management mastery can only be progressed through education and professional development paths. Competency Coaching’s charter is to facilitate this advancement by presenting the essential ingredients of the ‘master’ manager and by helping future leaders measure their current capabilities and skill sets against a model set of competencies.
