1423 China Kitchen is dedicated to promoting genuine traditional Chinesecuisine to people from all over the world. We provide a channel for exchangingcooking cultures of China and the UK.Here we offer you quality Chinese food: we use typical ingredients andseasonings, which are imported directly from Szechuan in China.
With a professional team of chefs, we promise that each dish will be prepared& cooked by at least five professional chefs before delivery. We will start toprepare new dishes rather than pre-cooked ones as you make your order.

Chinese food in the UK is often thought of as “Chinese takeaway” style, butthis is not authentic Chinese food at all. Chinese immigrants in earlier yearscame mainly from Hong Kong, bringing with them their own style of cookingand changing the flavour to cater for the English taste. This is the origin ofEuropean Chinese food. Taste the difference at 1423 China Kitchen!
Picture the size of China, 9.6 million square km, making it about 40 timeslarger than the UK and with 1.3 billion population around 20 times bigger thanUK. Just imagine the variety of Chinese food throughout China. There are 8major cuisines, one of the biggest of which is Szechuan Cuisine, which 1423China Kitchen is famous for. 1423 also introduces the discerning guest to thecuisine of Northern China.
All our dishes are authentic, health-aware and make use of natural ingredients,known to the Chinese for centuries. Vegetarian and gluten free diets arecarefully prepared. We even offer home visits, where our chefs will cook andprepare the very best fresh food in your own home!
We have been reworded 5 star rating for food hygiene by the Food StandardsAgency from local council, and this is a score very rare for a Chineserestaurant. But we achieved it with confidence!
We are located in an exceptional, unique listed building and dates back to1423. It is believed to be the second oldest building in Windsor. Windsor’s firstengine house was here, and there was a secret tunnel in the cellar with accessto the Castle. The rumour goes that many kings used to meet their mistresses
here, maybe even King Henry 8th!The building consists of three floors and easily caters for up to 90 people.Special anniversaries, family gatherings, company parties, or businessmeetings are all available here. Handmade furnishings in classical Chinesestyle were made by descendants of royal carpenters. We spent over tenmonths on refurbishment before opening, and kept every original structurefrom the 15th century such as one rare dragon beam across the ground floorceiling. Fewer than ten of these exist in the country.

I would like to share my ambition with you, or you could even call it my dream.
The reason for me to open this restaurant is to realize my dreams, one of themis I want to be a Chinese food ambassador in Windsor, to make this restaurantlast at least 100 years. Antoher one is I am more than confident that one day Iwill have my own Michelin Starred Authentic Chinese restaurant in the UK.
Here took me two months to become No 1 Chinese restaurant in Windsor, andsurpassed two over 40 years long established Chinese restaurants. Thanks tothe team hard work to achieve this within such a short time and thanks for yoursupport.

Our Building History
The building, dating back to 1423 is believed to be the oldest, or second
oldest building in Windsor, after the castle, which was built some 200
years before, and it situated in Church Lane, a quaint cobbled street.
1423 China Kitchen was originally known as The Engine House and used
to be home to Windsor's first fire engine. A stone plaque relating to this
can be seen above the adjoining alley way.
Beneath the building there are tunnels that used to lead to the castle -
probably for use during wars, or perhaps for Henry VIII to sneak some of
his many wives in!!
According to Royal Berkshire History website:
... a ghostly figure wearing a stiff white collar and a hat like a Quaker with
long flowing hair and a beard haunts 1423 China Kitchen in Church
Lane...
Footsteps can sometimes be heard upstairs!
There have been many unexplained occurrences in the building over the
years, with some guests claiming to feel a ghostly presence!
