• The creators of this site (Joseph Ayers and Vicram Rajagopalan) are wanting to help orphaned children in Guatemala. Endangered ChildrenChildren can be endangered in many ways. In Guatemala,

children are starving to death on the streets. Children take drugs to help get over their hunger. People often walk by without doing anything. This selfishness is one of the causes of endangered children.

Police often beat up the kids. Most times the police do it for fun. Sometimes they do it because they think the kids are menaces. This abuse is another cause of endangered children.

The biggest cause of endangered children is that these kids are orphaned by conflicts, murder, drugs, and disowning. This causes kids to live on the streets which further causes the police to beat these helpless kids up.

Effects• Abuse on the streets- The biggest problems kids

suffer from is police abuse. The police often beat the children for no reason at all. The police steal the kids’ possessions such as money, watches, rings, necklaces, and other jewelry. The girls are also tortured in other ways by the police. Police abuse is a big problem in Guatemala, but is getting better every year.

• Forced child Labor- Children on the streets have to work a lot to stay alive. This forced labor causes them to collapse on the streets and kills them faster than if they didn’t work.

• War- in 1954 Guatemala had a civil war that would last through 1996. This was a very violent war which killed many children.

– Children become endangered when they are orphaned by either drugs, murder, conflicts, or disowning.

• What is the role of government in issues affecting “endangered children”?– First of all, the police shouldn't beat these poor, helpless

children. Then, the government should make a ‘city’ for these kids. Also, the government can use some of their taxes to build a school in each of these ‘cities’. The government can also provide ‘small jobs’ for these children so they can earn money for toys and games. Food and clothes should be free. Food can be served through a soup kitchen.

• Who should help the “endangered children”?– Everyone should help the endangered children. We can all

help fight this problem, not only in Guatemala, but all over the world.

Solutions

• First of all, the police shouldn't beat these poor, helpless children. Then, the government should make a ‘city’ for these kids. Also, the government can use some of their taxes to build a school in each of these ‘cities’. The government can also provide ‘small jobs’ for these children so they can earn money for toys and games. Food and clothes should be free. Food can be served through a soup kitchen. Then kids can go to school Monday thru Friday from 9AM-1PM with a 15 minute lunch break starting at 12PM. Students get to choose whether they buy their lunch or bring it. A parent police force will control the city and if they beat up anyone then they are subject to up to 5 years in jail, with a lifetime term if they kill anyone. ALL KIDS WILL ATTEND SCHOOL!
