We Are Headed Toward Socialism
• Norman Thomas was right.• It is not just a result of Obama, but also the
result of long-term leftward drift – courts, schools, media, legislatures, and culture
• The productive middle class will perish. It is caught between:– The underclass, who won’t pay for anything– The rich, who will flee with mobile capital– The government class, which produces nothing
Boiling the Frog Starts with the Spending
• Spending as electoral bribes– The “47%” will soon be the “more than 50%”– Marx: “Democracy is road to Socialism”– America is supposed to be a Constitutional Republic
• Spending without corresponding taxation seems easy (at first)

• Current federal debt is $16T• Federal debt by 2016 will be $20T• Interest expense in 2011was $0.454T (but only
because interest rates are at an historic low). • What happens if interest rates rise to average
historical levels?– Rough long term average is 5% interest– $20T debt at 5% interest is $1T in interest expense– Personal income taxes in 2011 were $1.1T– Thus, by 2016, it is possible that almost all of
personal income taxes will be for just interest expense!

• This spending, this debt, is intended to collapse us into socialism/totalitarianism
