When I was asked about Sheikh Rabee, I knew only few statements of his and
read only few lines. However, I have seen the effect of his criticism of scholars
and Daees on the Ummah, which probably he did in good faith and valid
intention. I also saw the arrogant behavior of those who claim to be Salafis,
especially from non Arabs who make their living through criticizing Daees and
scholars, though themselves don't possess the basics of knowledge or Aqeedah.
They don't defend Islam but rather defend individuals and base their allegiance
not on Islam but on who loves Sheikh Rabee and who doesnt. Falih Alharbi was
one of the most prominent successors of Sheikh Rabee. They praised him as the
undisputed Allamah. When he differed with the Sheikh, they skinned him alive
and made him a hypocrite and a deviant. Look at what they said about Sheikh Bin
Jibreen, Bakr Abu Zaid, Ali Alhalabi, Abu Is'haq Alhuwaini and many oher Salafi
scholars. When I saw the negative impact of his followers on the Dawah and the
continuous bombardment on everyone who doesn't follow their ways, I directed
the person who asked my about him to follow Sheikh Bin Bazz and Ibn
Othaimeen. No one disagrees that they are far more knowledgeable. They were
scholars that you could learn from their knowledge and also moral conduct and
ethics. They had never said an obscene word even on deviant sects. Their
knowledge and way of teaching and dealing with those who differ with us in

opinion were far superior to Sheikh Rabee. Therefore, I directed this person who
needed to learn his religion to follow these great scholars. Sheikh Rabee is a
scholar in his own way and he is knowledgeable. But the way he is being
publicized by his followers repel a lot of Muslims. Look at the impact left by the
two great scholars on the Ummah and look at the impact others left. As for Sayed
Qutub, he had shortcomings and errors that must be addressed. But he had
some good as well and his writings carried a lot of benefit. Dr. Zakir Naik also has
shortcomings like everyone else. His Dawah has reached all corners of earth and
Allah has guided a lot by his efforts. What benefit have these backbiters added to
the Ummah? They are like flies that see only rotten things and feed on it. The real
deviant sect of Islam and the clear enemies of Islam are in safety from their
attacks but not their Muslim brothers who advocate Salafi Aqeedah. I hope this
clarifies my point of view.
