Europeana
The aim of Europeana is to provide access to over 10 million digital items from Europe's rich cultural and scientific heritage by 2010.
• Images - paintings, drawings, maps, photos and pictures of museum objects • Texts - books, newspapers, letters, diaries and archival papers • Sounds - music and spoken word from cylinders, tapes, discs and radio broadcasts • Videos - films, newsreels and TV broadcasts
Some of these are world famous, others are hidden treasures from Europe's
• museums and galleries • archives • libraries • audio-visual collections
Europeana was started by the European Commission in 2005 as part of the European Information Society i2010 Initiative, which aims to foster growth and jobs in the information society and media industries.

WP3 - Thesauri and Classification
• Define a simplified model for classification
• The creation of an English and French hierarchic dictionary and a list of instruments’ names and synonyms.
• Translate English and French dictionaries into German, Italian, Dutch and Swedish.
