About grass cutters

The programme has three main components:

• the EDIUS Prime training course

• grass cutters Online

• a network of Accredited Training Centres (ATCs)

Grass Cutters is a Grass Valley-aCCredited traininG proGramme desiGned to support the worldwide need in the broadCast teleVision and independent media seCtors for talented and qualified CreatiVes skilled in the use of edius.

EDIUS Prime Course Book

At the core of the grass cutters programme is the EDIUS Prime course book – the approved

text editors and trainers will follow to discover EDIUS and develop professional skills using the

system. Trainers will use this text as a guide for taught modules and students will follow detailed

step-by-step exercises using purpose-created video content to learn advanced editing techniques

and professional workflows.

The EDIUS Prime course is ONLY available from Accredited Training

Centres (ATCs) and is divided into 30 modules, spread across 3 days.

The modules are as follows:

DAy 1

Overview of editing with EDIUS; Basic cuts; Post-production workflows;

How NLEs work; EDIUS system overview; Interface overview; Basic

editing; Fine tuning; Saving your work.

DAy 2

Working with audio; Storyboard Editing; Transitions; Effects; Timeline

Editing; Editing Dialogue; Importing media.

DAy 3

Preparing a system and project; Project management; Multi-cam; Titles;

Output to tape and files; Customising your workspace; Collaboration;

grass cutters Online

Completion of the EDIUS Prime course gives the student certification, as well as a special

Profile Page on grass cutters Online. If the student wishes, their Profile Page – which they

can update themselves – can be made available to Grass Valley clients looking for skilled

EDIUS practitioners, who are provided with a special search facility which requires a login and

password. grass cutters online can be found here: www.grass-cutters.net.

Students that complete the EDIUS Prime course will automatically attain green status, and this icon will appear on their Profile Page. They will also

receive a special green tie-pin and membership card in their certification pack, which is sent directly from Grass Valley.

Grass Valley hold special ‘Train the Trainer’ sessions and trainers that complete this course will their green status updated to silver. This means

that they are authorised to deliver the EDIUS Prime Course on behalf of the Accredited Training Centre that they are affiliated to. Silver-status

trainers are available for bespoke training too, but can ONLY deliver the EDIUS Prime course in association with an ATC.

Accredited Training Centres

The EDIUS Prime course book is NOT available electronically, but delivered by a network of approved Accredited Training Centres (ATCs). Each

ATC will have on their staff a Grass Valley-certified trainer, who has been certified to teach the EDIUS Prime course. This approval process is

undertaken directly with Grass Valley. Freelancers interested in becoming a trainer, or training organisations who wish to become authorised, should
