CANSO VISION 2020: DELIVERING SEAMLESS AIRSPACE GLOBALLY

In June 2013 CANSO announced ‘Vision 2020’, its strong vision to transform global ATM performance and deliver seamless airspace globally. Vision 2020 lays out a clear strategic framework and has three core elements, illustrated in the ‘CANSO House’: being a strong Partner; creating Value for Members; and optimising the efficiency and effectiveness of the Organisation. Vision 2020 is supported by the CANSO Work Plan which captures 126 supporting activities planned at global and regional level, each with detailed actions, deliverables and timescales. Vision 2020 was developed by fully involving CANSO Members but also by consulting with industry partners. CANSO Members are committed to play their part in delivering Vision 2020.

Who We Are

CANSO – the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation – is the global voice of air traffic management (ATM) worldwide. CANSO Members support over 85% of world air traffic. Members share information and develop new policies, with the ultimate aim of improving air navigation services (ANS) on the ground and in the air. CANSO represents its Members’ views to a wide range of aviation stakeholders, including the International Civil Aviation Organization, where it has official Observer status. CANSO has an extensive network of Associate Members drawn from across the aviation industry.

About CANSO

Develop an international network for ANS experts to enable information exchange between specific air navigation service providers (ANSPs) and other stakeholders for the promotion of best practice within ATM

Liaise with other transport industry stakeholders, particularly airlines, industry suppliers and airports, to the overall benefit of the aviation industry

Contribute to the continuous global air transport debate through the presentation and promotion of the ANSP perspective across the range of contemporary issues in the industry

Represent the views and interests of Members at relevant international institutions, particularly the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)

Global ActivitiesCANSO and its Members are involved in a widerange of activities in pursuit of the Organisation’saims and objectives.

CANSO has three standing committees, with supporting workgroups, which deliver policy and set standards on behalf of Members. They bring together global experts to address issues of common interest; to exchange experience for the promotion of best practice; and to develop specific policies across a broad spectrum of issues.

Networks/Task Forces

These are ad hoc bodies, established to examinespecific issues, and to initiate targeted policies to

guide ANSPs in their strategic development.

CANSO committees, workgroups, and policy makers are brought together through regular meetings, and through the Global ATM-Net, a unique extranet, linking the world’s ANSPs in a global communications platform for air traffic management. Accessible only to CANSO Members, the site aims to improve communications between ANSPs to support their closer cooperation and facilitate meetings and information/resource sharing.

CANSO has five regions: Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America & Caribbean and the Middle East with offices in Johannesburg, Singapore, Brussels, Mexico City and Jeddah. Each region has a CANSO Region Director. In addition, the CANSO

They represent the interests of ANSPs on regional initiatives such as regional airspace harmonisation, or the regional roll-out of operational improvements such as performance-based navigation (PBN) or ADS-B.

Conferences and Seminars

CANSO’s regional conferences and seminars aim to build ANS capability around the world by providing leading ATM organisations and regional stakeholders with a forum to address priority issues together.

The Global Safety and Operations Conferences bring together experts in these fields to discuss, agree and prioritise new initiatives that enhance ATM performance.

Regional Activities

CANSO Global ATM Summit & AGM

This annual event provides a unique forum for air navigation service providers and industry stakeholders to meet over several days. At the Annual General Meeting (AGM), Members decide and prioritise CANSO’s work programme, set budgets, and elect CANSO Officers and Committee Members.

The Global ATM Summit provides a unique assembly for ANSP CEOs and industry stakeholders to exchange views and hold detailed discussions on mutually relevant topics.

Flightyield

Flightyield is a next generation aeronautical billing and revenue management service for air navigation service providers that reduces costs and increases efficiency. Instead of ANSPs manually collecting overflight fees from each airline, Flightyield provides a single point of contact to automatically capture, calculate, rate, invoice and collect overflight fees from all airlines. It is a fully managed cloud-based service, designed for ANSPs, and delivered in partnership with CANSO, SITA and Airways New Zealand.

Products and services

ASBU implementation training

The comprehensive training programme Methodology and Best Practices for ASBU Implementation has been designed to provide members of the global aviation community with a common understanding of the ICAO Aviation System Block Upgrades methodology. The course is indispensable for those involved in ATM systems planning and modernisation programmes, and provides insight into key implementation issues such as how to select, prioritise and implement ASBU capabilities; how to identify gaps between current ATM and ASBU capabilities; and how to develop a business case to support investment decisions.
