WHO WE AREThe Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC) is the only national, non-profit trade association dedicated to advancing the full participation of minorities and women in employment and contracting opportunities throughout the aviation and aerospace industries. AMAC concentrates on eliminating barriers to minorities and women participation in these industries and understands that diversity inclusion fuels innovation and is essential when developing airports of the future. AMAC brings together a diverse multi-dimensional group of airport operators, government officials, corporations and entrepreneurs who share in the vision and mission of AMAC.

One of the most important investments one can make is to join AMAC. A strong, unified voice through AMAC is the best opportunity the airport industry has in making a difference in diversity inclusion initiatives.

Membership Cycle: May 1, 2020 – April 30, 2021

Enrollment Period: Open Enrollment Year-Round

Memberships must be renewed each year. Membership benefits become effective upon receipt of full dues payment. All dues are quoted in U.S. Dollars.

AIRPORTAMAC is the only national organization that partners with airports to assist them in remaining compliant with federal DBE (Disadvantaged Business Enterprise) and ACDBE (Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise) programs under 49 CFR Part 23 and 26. AMAC provides DBE/ACDBE Liaison Officer & Program Administrators Training, as well as, serves as the voice to Federal Aviation Administration and US Department of Transportation personnel when addressing FAA/USDOT program challenges. Additionally, airports can select from a large pool of qualified local and national DBEs and ACDBEs interested in doing business with their airport.

BUSINESSAirports maintain a wide range of federally funded contract opportunities that require a DBE component. AMAC brings those opportunities through a robust online career center (bid/job board), valuable networking experiences and strategic business matchmaking opportunities.

CORPORATEWhen it comes to running an effective supplier diversity program, AMAC serves as the source in locating qualified minority and woman-owned businesses to fill concessions, construction, supplier and/or other professional services contracts. AMAC also provides educational training focused on the airport environment and business operations.

INDIVIDUALAMAC connects airports and businesses to government employees (city, state and federal), educational institutions, and individuals involved in administering, managing or promoting minority and women business participation or employment. The relationships formed aide in identifying business opportunities as well as challenges program administrators may face.

STUDENTSearching for an internship to gain valuable industry experience or a scholarship to offset tuition costs can be overwhelming. AMAC connects students with internship opportunities and provides scholarships to students in aviation-related disciplines through its fundraising arm – AMAC Foundation. Student members also enjoy access to view job opportunities on AMAC’s job board. Most importantly, students can form valuable professional connections with airport officials and business owners through AMAC’s networking opportunities.

ANNUAL AIRPORT BUSINESSDIVERSITY CONFERENCEAMAC’s Annual Airport Business Diversity Conference continues to bring together over 1,000 businesses, aviation professionals, government officials and individuals from around the country to discuss a variety of subjects ranging from how to do business at airports to public policy issues impacting the entire aviation industry. This highly acclaimed conference is the premier aviation industry event of the year – serving as a hub for education, advocacy and networking opportunities that promote diversity and inclusion in airports.

LEADERSHIP SUMMIT ON CAPITOL HILLAMAC’s Leadership Summit on Capitol Hill is an event filled with optimal networking and advocacy opportunities to voice your opinions to decision makers who can impact real change and help policymakers understand the challenges and opportunities of operating in the aviation industry. AMAC members and stakeholders meet annually in the Nation’s Capital to discuss and influence aviation policy while participating in panels and presentations on key topics by a range of Congressional and Administration leaders.

FORUMS/SUMMITSAMAC’s regional forums/summits unite smaller groups of airports, corporations, business owners, government employees and entities to facilitate deep conversations and devise solutions for the most pressing and strategic issues in the aviation industry. These targeted events are designed to accommodate 250 participants. Each event provides newcomers and seasoned professionals the opportunity to cultivate new relationships and expand hyper-locally through their region.

MIXERSAMAC regional directors understand the importance of building meaningful connections and host networking mixers throughout the year to develop strong relationships that help grow the AMAC membership and strengthen AMAC’s reach. Through meeting in-person these mixers provide a platform that makes connecting easy.

AMAC ACADEMYThe AMAC Academy is a comprehensive platform created to provide tailored training for membership through a host of interactive sources including: webinars; online classes; podcasts and presentations. AMACf o u n d a t i o n

Since its establishment in 1997, the AMAC Foundation has awarded more than $350,000 in scholarships for students around the country, supporting students pursuing a broad range of careers in airports, airlines, the federal government and private sector. To support our efforts furthering minorities and women as aviation professionals, make a tax-deductible donation or consider a corporate sponsorship.

The Aviation and Professional Development Scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate an interest in pursuing an aviation related career and seek a major in Aviation, Business Administration, Accounting, Architecture, Engineering, Communications, Finance, Civil / Chemical / Structural / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Environmental Science.

The AMAC Legacy Scholarship is awarded to students, family member or mentee of an AMAC member.

The AECOM FLY Scholarship is awarded to a student who demonstrates an interest in pursuing an aviation related career to cover educational and related costs in architectural, engineering or construction disciplines.

The Heinemann Americas Aviation Scholarship is awarded to three women and/or minority students who wish to enter the field of aviation to cover educational and related costs.

THE AMACFOUNDATIONOPPORTUNITIES ON THE RISE

The AMAC Foundation works alongside AMAC and is dedicated to advancing minorities and women pursuing careers in the aviation industry. The Foundation develops educational programs, provides scholarships and shares resources to support aviation and airport industry professionals, from college students beginning their careers to seasoned professionals.
