The artwork is created by the Native Australians, called the Aborigines (similar to Native Americans). Aboriginal dot paintings were often created to tell stories about the Dreamtime spirits. Many of the characters that appear in Aboriginal stories take the form of Australian animals crocodile kangaroo koala platypus spider snake turtle and more! They believed that the Dreamtime spirits created the beginning of the world and the universe. Slide 18 Aboriginal Dot Paintings Slide 19 Slide 20 DREAMTIME SPIRIT Draw your dreamtime spirit with pencil. Trace with black sharpie, silver sharpie, and brown markers. Cut out dreamtime spirit and glue it onto background paper. BACKGROUND Dip a pencil eraser into colored paint, then stamp it gently on the background paper to create dots designs.
