Abolition of sñavery in Great Britain

Introduction

In North America, the abolition of slavery started with the moral thinking of people, and after

started a big separation between the south and the north (the people who wanted to destroy

slavery and the people who wanted to continue slavery), and teh result of this was a civil war.

The origins of abolition

Between XVII century and XVIII centruy some people started to be against of slavery.

But in XVIII century the abolitionist started to do something, to try that people see that slaves

were in very bad conditions. An important abolitionist was Thomas Clarkson. Clarkson

looked for evidence of the tortures in ships, and had good allies in politcal to do pressure and the

government. He did the asociaton against of the abolition, and

was sending him message to all poeple, and 20 years after, all that he did has results: in 1807

Grea Britain coudn't trade with slaves.

But the prohibition of the trade of slaves, don't stop slavery in Great Britain. In 1824 Elizabeth Heyrick proposed stop slavery at 100% but she only had the support of the girls. Elizabeth was

continuing her battle against slavery and got that the majority was with her.

After decades of disputes in the parliament, in 1833 was approved the law of slavery.

Tha slaw of slavery says:-No people can not trade with slaves

-No people can have slaves-In the next 4 years slaves well be free

-The masters will have a compensation of goods

proposals and was the most insistent abolitionist.

Elizabeth Heyrick: one of the best fighters of abolition, did the law that exterminated slavery

in Great Britain.
