ABLE Classes Set to Begin for 2014-2015 School Year
The Fostoria City Schools’ Adult Basic and Literacy Education(ABLE) program is pleased to announce that
classes will begin for the 14/15 school year on September 9 for returning students. New students have the opportunity
to enroll in classes by attending the ABLE orientation scheduled for September 8. Classes will be held Tuesday and
Thursday from 8:30a.m-11:30a.m and 5:00p.m-8:00p.m.
The program currently located at the Fostoria Jr./Sr. High School offers a variety of services designed to meet
the needs of all individuals interested in improving their academic skills for the purpose of increasing their literacy skills,
obtaining a GED, college/career skills for employment or college readiness, and/or English language skills for those who
are non-native English speakers . ESOL classes are held at Owens Community College Findlay campus. ABLE classes are
provided free of charge to participants due to funding through a grant.
Students interested in obtaining a GED are now doing so through the new 2014 GED test. The Fostoria ABLE
program is prepared to help adult learners obtain the GED to earn the satisfaction of receiving a high school
credential and to create a pathway to a better future. Students enrolling into the ABLE classes and meeting the
eligibility requirements will be able to take the Official GED Practice test for FREE to determine their readiness for
the Official GED test.
To enroll in classes in ABLE classes, please contact the ABLE program to register for orientation. After
completion of the orientation, students will be allowed to enroll into the ABLE class that best meets their needs. A
scheduled orientation for the classes is taking place on September 8 from 8:30 11:30 or 5:00-8:00. For those unable to
register for the August orientation, additional orientation sessions will be held monthly. For those students with
alternative scheduling needs or those that want additional study time at home, a distance education program is
available which offers online lessons.
For questions or to schedule a time for orientation, contact the ABLE program at (419) 436-4163 or (419)334-
6901, ext. 4701.
