When I set up Dreamz Unlimited the logic wasto start a company where everybody was wellfed, got their money and were self-reliant. Theidea behind Arclightz was to have anequipment unit, which would back up Dreamz Unlimited. The logic of Dreamz Unlimited is not

The film begins in a bowling alley, where a group of friendsare awaiting the arrival of Salim. Meanwhile, Deepak arriveswith his fiance Sheetal. Sheetal has a book with her that is alove story. When the conversation arises about love, Deepakand the rest find it necessary to make Sheetal aware that truelove does exist. And they have the perfect example: The storyof Raj and Priya, two of their closest friends. Raj Mathur(Shahrukh Khan) is the owner of Raj Transport, a small

trucking company he founded himself. Raj is a carefree manwho doesn't quite have a path set in stone so he trieseverything. He is unorganized, messy, lazy and late all thetime. Although he isn't the richest, he's always happy.

On the other hand Priya Chopra (Rani Mukherjee) is asuccessful fashion designer whose family is quite wealthy.Priya, originally from Greece, lives with her Aunt Anna who

wants to give her the best in life (meaning wealth andsuccess). Priya has her life all planned out the completeopposite of Raj. These two completely different people fall inlove and meet in a car accident. Raj was cruising in his truckwhen speedy Priya drives right past him, though she didn'tget through very easily. Hot-tempered Priya angrily hops outof her car and immediately begins insulting and venting atRaj too busy to notice that her car has rolled down a hill.Raj, astonished by her beauty, just stands there smiling in adaze.

Eventually Priya has to accept a tow from him. Later theymeet again at the wedding of Salim and Farah, mutualfriends. Eventually they themselves become friends. The twoarrange to meet again and slowly begin to fall in love. Rajreceives her phone number while dropping Priya home butcarelessly loses it. He then sets out to find her and eventuallyfinds his Priya.

When he finds her, he learns that she's engaged. DesperateRaj follows Priya to Greece where he continues to woo her.When it's time to part company, Priya realizes that she is inlove with Raj. They get married after persistently persuadingPriya's parents. They arrive in Mumbai where Raj welcomesPriya into their home. Raj then makes an oath to God or histalisman. He wishes it to protect Priya if he is not everaround, because he loves her very much.

Back to the bowling alley: Sheetal is in tears, for she neverheard a more beautiful story. Salim arrives along with Farah.

They announce that today was Raj and Priya's first weddinganniversary so they were planning a surprise party. ExcitedSheetal can't wait to meet the famous Raj and Priya but whenthey do arrive, they're nothing like what they seemed. A yearhas changed both Raj and Priya, and the two can't stoparguing. When they do find some common ground andhappiness, it doesn't last long. Raj feels the pressure to meet

up with the expectations of Priya's family. He is strugglingfinancially. His company has gone bankrupt, and he has manybills and loans to pay. When he is insulted by bank official hereturns home crying.

Priya cannot stand to see her husband in this state andresorts to asking her former fianc for money. When Raj asksher about the source of money, she lies. But when Raj throwsa celebration party he learns the truth. Angry at Priya, hebecomes destructive and eventually she runs away to herparents. Raj, realizing his error, goes after his wife only to beinsulted by her family. Priya decides to leave India becauseshe cannot live with Raj and she cannot stay without beingwith him. When Raj is informed about this he races to theairport to stop his love just as he did the year before. He

confronts her by saying he will change and that he has adream that the two of them can start a family together.Although Priya expresses that she has the same dream, shesays that it is impossible for the two to be together, so sheboards the plane.

Giving up, Raj remembers his oath and sends his talisman toPriya. When Priya receives the talisman she too recalls Raj's

confession. Raj returns home to find Priya waiting for himthere. She says that the only way to make their dream cometrue is to be together, so that's how it's gonna be... Togetherforever they won't ever leave. In a jokingly manner the twoget into another argument but instead of calling it a fight theysay this is how they express their love. They continue toargue as the credits roll.

This was the third film produced by Shahrukh Khanand Juhi Chawla's company, Dreamz Unlimited . Neitherof their first two films Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani (2000)and Asoka (2001) did well at the box office.

However, Chalte Chalte was a success.According to Shah Rukh, Rani Mukherjee was asked toplay the heroine but she was booked for other films andhad to turn it down. Aishwarya Rai was signed for therole, but had to leave the set after some problems withSalman Khan . He is said to have disrupted filming. The

film then got delayed. Rani happened to be free at thispoint and agreed to take over the role and save thefilm.Rani Mukherjee had a complete makeover for the role.Her new look was also widely noted.

Chalte Chalte was a moderate box office success mainlydue to the draw of the film's lead pair. However it wasgiven a cold shoulder by most critics as it wasconsidered a very clichd film of its genre.
