Gary Looney (191, Menindee. NSW. 2879. Australia)

A letter to Mr. Stephen Conroy*

In a phone conference with members of your department the offer was made to connect a satellite

Internet system under The Australian Broadband Guarantee. I accepted the offer as an alternative to

my suggestion. I connected with Widebandnetworks, ABG Customer ID: 552214

Filling out the direct debt and installation application, I specified the Ground Mount Pole Installation.

Unfortunately the service quality was far less than reliable for a service said to be worth $110pm.I had frequent drops in connection and no connection even when a storm was barely visible on horizon.

IE: Communication was generally unreliable and non-existent preceding storms or resulting emergency.

As this system was provided by Government I resisted touching it and voiding warrantee.

Customers on Whirlpool Widebandnetworks forum told me of no or few problems with rain or service.

Widebandnetworks insisted there was nothing wrong with the installation although not agreeing to a

physical inspection and denying its necessity. Heated disagreement with Widebandnetworks about what

service I was receiving for $110pm lead to my disconnection and release of service, given the

combination of cost and service quality presumed, I have not made the transfer.

After disconnection from Widebandnetworks internet I decided to self install a satellite dish and

receiver for the free SBS and ABC, Optus D1 satellite TV reception.

I found my self installed TV dish suffered the same reception issues as the Widebandnetworks internet.

The pole mount TV satellite dish in the same clay soil needed to be lifted at the front after each wet/dry

cycle from rain; the clay expands around the ground mount then shrinks away, loosening its hold until

the next predominantly north winds and rain push to lock in a new position, my new TV dish is not

concreted, but because it is not critical or over important I can live with tapping dirt in front of the pole

    when required to fix reception.

I have just pulled down the Widebandnetworks satellite dish installation to find I could move the pole by

hand, it was held by about one 20kg premixed bag of set concrete at the top, below there was about

half a 20kg bag of un-wetted premix cement and dirt which I scooped out by hand and trowel. The pole mounted 1.3 metre high ipstar dish is a heavy imbalanced weight of surface area to wind.

An installation, meeting industry standards with required concrete would not suffer the problem.

The following pages have photos of the installation quality found. Use this as positive for experience.

I would like a satellite internet installation to industry standards that works and an apology!

Why? Because Telstra, Government and Widebandnetworks have effectively screwed me over.

Whilst I was ill and in pain Human Services removed my health care, Centrelink falsely penalised me

claiming I could not be contacted in an attempt to force the purchase of a Telstra phone.

I have since been given assurance from Centerlink that I would not be pressured to connect a phone, or

use someone elsesin order to meet Centerlink requirements.

In an appointment of August 2nd my Employment Service Provider stated I will have a phone in the 30

days before my next appointment. I explained having a $530 power bill owing to which I was told these

appointments wont be held after the next, without a phone. So you will need to have a phone by then!

    Mr. StephenConroy*,

Give back my right to a functional Internet communications system. Stop the inhuman acts.

Please read the Hansard of my speech to the JOINT COMMITTEE ON THE NATIONAL BROADBAND

NETWORK Wednesday, 27 July 2011 in Broken Hill, NSW, 2880

Communication is a right and obligation to share knowledge for equality, not a tool for oppression.

Remove Human Services disadvantage penalties by returning my right to product as described for price.

Give back my right to a functional Internet communications system. Stop the inhuman acts.

The installation cable measures 25 meters. I will require 5 meters.

I would like a satellite internet installation to industry standards that works and an apology!

I have the right to refuse dysfunctional service from a paid private company.

Would you pay $110 each month for a service not received?

Would the Government receive such service and operate? I do not think so.I maintain the right to refuse Telstra thuggery and unconscionable business dealings.

Please send a qualified competent installer; prove the Government can get something right.

Freedom of speech has no value if unheard, but more so it is silenced.
