The three of them sit around a shoddy bar table,
the wobbly leg some-how managing to hold the collection of empty pint glasses above it. Safe from the miserable weather outside, the boys relax without a care in the world. Conor Horan Mur-phy, Kevin Hayes and Jack Kenny are adopted children of Aberdeen, all Irish students in their second year at RGU.
All school friends from an all-Irish speaking school in Galway, Ire-land, the three of them coming to Aberdeen happened completely by chance. “I got refused my first three choices, and it just happened that my fourth was the same that Kev was going to” admits Conor, the bassist and vocalist for the group.“We were together before we came over here, about three years, but the amount of places that
would let us play over here helps us get more of a following.”Jack, the man behind the drums in the group, felt the same but also put it down to interest. “The fact that we’re an Irish band gets a crowd at gigs, even if its exactly Irish music that we play.“It’s also worth mention-ing that the talent spotters are much more common over here, and that’s really how we got the album deal.”
Aberdeen have accepted the three as some of their own, with regular sold out gigs at Drummonds and The Tunnels acting as proof. “The album is our first proper attempt at one, before this they’ve just been copied from a laptop onto cheap cd’s!” admits Kev, guitarist for the Von Tramp Family. “It’s out in two weeks and we’re hoping to have a night for the hard fans at Drommonds, -->

Let it snow...The 22nd of November was the beginning of Winter for Aberdeen. Earlier than previous years, it covered the city and shire in white chaos. Our photographer Joe Folan got out there and got a selection of shots of the better side of the snow.
