    • Explain your interest in the subject • Work Experience (if relevant) • Other achievements (sports, clubs, music, hobbies) • Skills (be selective, mention those that would help at Uni)

    Format • Maximum 4,000 characters or 47 lines long • Paragraphs preferred if possible • Start in Microsoft Word • Save regularly (UCAS times out after 35 minutes) • Proof read, check spelling and grammar.

    Tips:

     Start by talking to someone (school, home or friends).

     Record yourself.

    Remember:

     Different Universities look at different things.

     Start early.  Don’t copy – this will

    be detected.  Use the help available

    to you.

    UCAS Application Deadlines

    Main deadline - 15th January 2020

    Some courses vary - Medicine which is October 2019

    You can make up to five choices – UCAS charge a fee of £24 (2020 fee). Price may change from 2020 onwards.

    Medicine and Dentistry have a maximum of four choices.

    Key Dates – 2020 entry

  • 6 sections to fill in:

    • Personal details

    • Choices

    • Education

    • Employment

    • Personal statement

    • Referee details (usually a teacher in your school completes this).

    Completing your application – 2020 entry

  • After Applying (2019 and 2020 entry)

    Track

    Applicants use Track to:

    • Access their record anytime from anywhere

    • Shows choices, offers, personal information

    • Get information about offers or rejections

    • Used to reply to offers

  • Choose - 2019 and 2020 entry

    • After receiving decisions from ALL your choices, you will be asked to make replies - Accept or Decline offers.

    • The reply deadline will be shown on ‘Track’.

    • UCAS sends reminders – but if applicants fail to reply by a reply date, their offers will be declined automatically.

    Applicants can hold a maximum of 2 offers: • Firm (if all conditions are met, applicants will be placed), your preferably choice. • Insurance (lower conditions in case Firm choice conditions not met), your back up option.

    Any other offers must be declined

  • Key Dates When to Reply

    • Last decision on application from the University is the end of March 2019/2020.

    • Student to make preference choices on UCAS by May 2019/2020

    Results day

    Confirmation when results come out in August

    If the student has met the conditions of the offer, they will receive

    confirmation.

    There is no requirement to re-accept the offer.

    If the student has not met the offer conditions they will enter Clearing.

    They won’t be holding any offers.
