Introducing Boston the Travelling Bear to K Blue students K PURPLE – Miss Lewis What an exciting week K Purple have had learning about the letters a, m, t, s, I and f. They have learnt what sound each letter makes and about different things that start with each letter. They have also been practising writing the alphabet. Homework will start this week. Each student will have a copy of the words to learn as well as a home reader. Please send the home reader in after reading it so I can give you a new one. 5 GREEN - Mrs Thackeray What a great turn out by our 5 Green students for our 2018 Swimming Carnival!! Lots of participating in events and lots of cheering on of friends and house teammates. Mr Stutchberry had the opportunity to take 5 Green on Friday, while Stage 3 teachers had planning day, and he thoroughly enjoyed his time with these lovely students. 6 MAGENTA – Mrs Pennell Thank you to everyone who had logged on to Seesaw. Get ready for some uploading of awesome work this week! See you all on Wednesday at the Meet and Greet! 6 AQUA - Mr Stuart It’s chicken-sitting time in Aqua! This year we are responsible for the health of our Aberdeen Public chicken coop. Thank you to Ms Birch & Mrs Hill for showing us the ropes. We are focussing on building our teamwork skills. This week our aim is to stop talking over the top of others. Listening to the viewpoints of others, even if we disagree with them is a way of showing respect and helping others to feel valued. It also helps with keeping to our class schedule. BEST START IN KINDERGARTEN Next week Miss Lewis and Miss Purcell will commence Best Start assessments with their class. This is a one-to-one interview with each child to help gather information of each individual’s skills and understanding of early literacy and numeracy concepts. This information will help the teachers to develop responsive teaching and learning programs to meet the needs of all students. GENERAL CONSENT FORMS Thank you to those parents who have returned them. Each student is to have the form completed, signed and returned to school as soon as possible. HOW STUDENTS GET HOME All students received a form for you to complete last week. Thank you to those parents who have returned them. We ask that you return it to school as soon as possible so that we can ensure we have your child’s home time travel routine correct. TRAVEL ROUTINES If your child’s travel home from school changes in any way please notify the school office by phone or letter before lunch time. This helps us support your child and avoids any confusion or upset at the end of a busy day. PAYMENTS TO THE OFFICE When sending money to school for payments could you please enclose the money in a clearly marked envelope with your child’s name, class and what the money is for so this can be marked off at the office. Payment envelopes can be collected from the front office to assist in this process. SCHOOL FEES Voluntary School contributions for 2018 are $35 per student or $70 for two or more students in a family. Payments are to be made at the office.

Head lice are extremely contagious and it really doesn't have anything to do with personal hygiene... 95% of lice are transmitted through close contact, which means sharing hats, head bands and pillows - and to top it off with the no hat no play rule makes it even more difficult to control head lice. Ensure that you are protected from head lice this season and take the necessary preventative steps to keep away head lice. Below are 4 crucial steps to keep your school head lice free: •Avoid sharing clothing: especially hats, ribbons, head bands and helmets •Discourage children from playing with each other's hair •Don't share brushes, combs, towels and pillows •Keep long hair plaited or firmly tied back to prevent contact from other kids We hope that the above tips will help you keep head lice away for good!
