A Brief History

-First small grains germplasm obtained in 1897 by USDA explorers- Maintained for the first half of the 20th Century by USDA Cereal Investigators (separate for wheat, barley, oat, rice)- NSGC officially formed in 1948, combining the separate collections; located at Beltsville, Maryland-Moved to Aberdeen, Idaho in 1988
