In 2014 Douglas Thompson AM had the great honour of being awarded a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to aged care.

CARE

At Abbey House we are lucky to have a high number of qualified staff, meaning we have the time to care for whatever your needs may require. We offer 24-hour Registered Nurse care. General Practitioner services are available or your own doctor may visit at any time. We also consult with external specialists and agencies to achieve the best outcomes for residents.

Abbey House offers exceptional clinical care with a high calibre of Registered Nurses experienced in general aged care as well as dementia, respite and palliative care.

LIFESTYLE

With an onsite café and a variety of recreation activities you’ll never want for company. Our recreation staff have qualifications in Leisure and Health management to achieve the best balance of mental and physical health for all residents. You might even find a new hobby, maybe join the Moss Vale Men’s Shed or have a ladies’ lunch with a glass of champagne. There are craft groups as well as a book club and beautiful gardens to stroll. There is weekly live entertainment as well as bus outings. Residents have the luxury of the onsite Brigadoon Cinema and a beautiful sandstone chapel.

DEMENTIA

The dementia unit at Abbey House offers specialist care in a calm and safe environment. Like the rest of our home, patients also enjoy the luxury of private ensuite rooms as well as a specialised dementia dining room, a secure outdoor garden area and nightly massage therapy. Our dementia team offers life-enhancing lifestyle activities that include exercise and outings to Canberra’s National Gallery of Australia Art and Dementia program.

RELAX

Unwind with dedicated hair and beauty salon, complementary individualised aromatherapy program, reflexology and specialised pain massage program. Abbey House offers personalised physiotherapy management as well as a physio aide for further group activities and exercise. Our beautiful chapel caters to all spiritualities and denominations and is the perfect place to simply relax and contemplate life.

DINING

Abbey House offers restaurant-style dining. Relax with a glass of wine in the large central courtyard as the on-site chef prepares a seasonal menu each day offering comforting favourites with a choice of main meals. We use fresh produce from local suppliers such as Mauger’s Quality Meats in Burrawang.

YOUR FAMILY

At Abbey House we care about your family too. We consider a resident’s family to be part of the team when it comes to decisions of care. Our regular events and special function days allow residents to invite family and friends to socialise. Just like home, you can choose to entertain them in our private dining room, or maybe have a friend for a quiet afternoon tea in your room.
