AAPM QLD Practice Manager of the Year Award 2013

This award provides the opportunity to recognise and reward a Practice Manager for his or her special contributions to medical,

specialist, dental or allied health practice management in Queensland.

Aim: The award is designed to promote the role and status of Practice Managers in the healthcare environment. Criteria:

Please submit the application providing details to the selection panel as to why you believe the nominated Practice Manager

has demonstrated exceptional skills in Practice Management in a healthcare setting. You are required to use the listed criteria

below as headings and provide demonstrated examples of each. It will also be helpful to provide a background on the practice

identifying areas such as number of medical and support staff, private/corporate practice.

A broad understanding of the requirements of a medical / specialist / dental / allied health practice in relation to:

- Recruitment - Business Planning

- Marketing

- Public Relations

- Occupational Health and Safety - Financial Management

- Sound knowledge of relevant legislations

Excellent communication skills; both verbal and written.

Outstanding leadership and team building skills.

Demonstration and implementation of systems to support quality care in a clinical setting.

Commitment to ongoing education in practice management and raising the profile of practice management.

Nomination:

Those eligible to nominate include all practitioners or staff in the areas of General Practice, Specialist Practice, a n d Dental or

Allied Health Practices who employ Practice Managers. Practice Managers may nominate themselves, but must be endorsed by a

principal of the practice in which they are employed.

Eligibility:

Those eligible to receive this award:

- Must be a full member of AAPM and

- Currently employed as a Practice Manager and - Currently studying or already holding a qualification in Practice or Business Management.

Directors of AAPM, members of the Selection Committee, Associate Members and Corporate Members are not eligible to be

nominated.

Selection:

The winner will be the Practice Manager who, in the opinion of the selection panel, has demonstrated exceptional skills in Practice

Management in a healthcare setting.

National Practice Manager of the Year

The winner of the AAPM QLD Practice Manager of the Year Award will be eligible for the AAPM National Practice Manager of the

Year Award to be announced at the 2013 AAPM National Conference in Sydney, and will win in addition to the prizes for their

state award:

Return flights to the 2013 AAPM National Conference in Sydney

All registration fees for the 2013 AAPM National Conference

Accommodation in Sydney to attend the 2013 AAPM National Conference
