Susan’s long tenure with our Flowback and Production Testing division enables her to understand our industry nuances and enable positive information flow between the office and field. Susan has many attributes of a great administrator such as; excellent organization, attention to detail, communication, team participation and at times a peace maker. She is always willing to take on extra responsibilities, help wherever it’s needed, and provide any type of support to Cathedral. Whether part of Cathedral’s social committee, or on her own time, Susan often dedicates her time and effort to support her community and charities that matter to her. How did it feel when you found out you had won? Honored! How do you implement Cathedral's Guiding Principles in your work environment? I believe if you treat the company as your own you will be better at making decisions and more aware of how you treat people. It’s rewarding to know colleagues nominated you for this award. What events in 2015 or leading up to it, do you believe helped you be recognized? My coworkers know they can come to me about anything and I will help them whether it is paperwork, benefits, an e-ticket, or even if they need to talk. The biggest thing, I think, is that I never say “that’s not my job” to any project. We are a team and if I see that someone needs help I am there for them. Which Guiding Principle do you think you best represent? Honesty and integrity. Lead by example and treat people with respect. Which Guiding Principle does your team represent? Teamwork. I cannot do my job without help, information and input and I can always depend on my coworkers to supply whatever information I need and vice versa. A big thanks to Abby Cameron, Angela Kelly and Michelle Johnson in the Calgary office. They were a huge resource for me when I first started and continue to be. In your opinion, how have the Guiding Principles affected the way Cathedral operates? The Guiding Principles are an excellent way to bring integrity and safety from within ourselves instead of just following rules. It helps us take more pride in our company. You are dedicated with a strong drive for excellence, what motivates you? I once read a quote 'Your reputation is your resume’. It is great to have accomplishments and merits but I believe how you treat people is most important. Another quote I live by is, 'Try not to become a person of success but rather a person of value’. In your opinion, what is the best way to lead and motivate your team? Tell them exactly what we are trying to accomplish and give them the tools to do it. What do you think your most significant accomplishment is with Cathedral? As an office administrator it is very difficult to say what my greatest accomplishments are since paperwork is at the forefront. That being said, I think it is such an honor to be chosen for this award. I hope it gives the other Office Administrators a view of how Cathedral feels about all their employees regardless of their the position and shows them that they are valued. When I was working in accounts payable, I made sure to build a good relationship with vendors, review work statements every month and stay current on paying invoices. I helped implement and work out bugs with the in-house production e-ticket system. When I was the wireline administrator, I helped put procedures in place that were required by the Department of Transportation after the audit. Mostly, I can say I am flexible and always willing to do whatever it is that Cathedral needs done. What do you think separates Cathedral from our competition? What separates Cathedral from their competition is the people they have in place and continuing to be innovative. Cathedral is always working on new ideas for motor advancements and improvements in safety. What makes your work location successful? The key people we have in place are the cream of the crop and work well together. How do you see the future of Cathedral and the role you’ll play (aside from getting through the downturn)? Cathedral is a strong company and we will continue to build a great company with great people. Winning an award generally comes from support around you, is there anyone you’d like to thank?
