A resident of Blytheville, Hender- son had already won three gold medals in the track and field competition at the national level at the first-ever National Special Olympic Games held in Ames, Iowa, in July. He won first place in the 3K, 5K and 10K events. His trip to China and the World Competition proved to be success- ful as well. He brought home a Gold Medal in the 4 x 400-meter relay and a Bronze Medal in the 10,000 meter event. Henderson, age 24, has enjoyed running and competing in the Special Olympics since he was a little boy. “I first remember running around the house when I was six years old,” says Henderson. “Later on, I would run around outside with the other children when they would be playing games. When I was in the sixth grade, an elementary coach would work with me when I wanted to run.” Henderson was on the track team in junior and senior high. He has won Gold Medals at each of the 10 state level competitions he has attended. “When I was older, I had a pro- fessional trainer that worked with me. He has now relocated, but I have been training on my own,” Henderson adds. Henderson runs five miles each day on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. On the weekends, he runs ten miles each day. “I also try to go to the gym and do a little training to keep my muscles toned up.” The trip to China was memorable for many reasons. “I really enjoyed the AHTD Employee Participates In Special Olympics AHTD Employee Participates In Special Olympics people in China,” Henderson states. “I had a great time sightseeing. Employee - Angela (Jordan) Undiener, Resident Offi ce Technician, RE Offi ce No. 65

Length of Service - I have been with the Department for over 13 years.

Job Duties - I keep track of all work awarded to contrac-tors to ensure that they are are properly paid. I make sure the work is being properly measured and documented, pre-pare all components to be submitted for the fi nalization of a project and pay the contractors through the SiteManager system. I also administer data to all laptops used in the fi eld and ensure all equipment used is verifi ed and working accu-rately and audit everything but the toilet tissue twice a year. I train fi eld clerks and back-up personnel for timekeeping and data entry. I am certifi ed to test aggregate, concrete and soils for compliance with specifi cations and have to moni-tor the quality control and verifi cation testing/certifi cations for anything incorporated into the projects. Around the offi ce, I am known as the spell checker, fact fi nder, collec-tor of useless but interesting information, argument settler, and rememberer of forgotten knowledge relating to obscure references and rules in the Specifi cation Manual and Resi-dent Engineer’s Manual. For special occasions, I serve as the dishwasher, party planner, gift buyer and money collec-tor for unexpected events.

Where Is This?Where Is This?See answer at bottom of last page.See answer at bottom of last page.

Favorite part of the job - My favorite part of the job is the security I feel in knowing there are numerous oppor-tunities for advancement, and that I will be considered for anything I choose to do if I meet the requirements and have the ability to do it. I am offered knowledge and experience to improve my worth, pursue better opportunities, expand my ability to help the Department and my co-workers and still remain with the same employer with generous benefi ts. It’s been great no matter where I worked and I have worked with some wonderful people. This was an excellent career choice.

Background - I was hired in August of 1994 in the Main-tenance Division, screen printing highway signs. A year later, I moved to Reproduction running the Diazo-printer that made blueprint plan sheets. A year and a half later, I moved to Contract Estimates in Construction as an Esti-mate Technician where I remained for more than four years until I came to District 6 as a Resident Offi ce Technician.

Family - I am married to David Undiener and have three children, or fi ve if you include our pets: John (9th grade), Alex (6th grade, who will be a contestant in the Grant County Spelling Bee!), Theresa (5th grade), Dingo (shep-herd dog) and Jeffrey (beta fi sh).

Hobbies/Interests - I love to read when I have time. My time is divided between Boy Scouts, St. Andrews United Methodist Church choir and Taekwondo, where I have at-tained the rank of 2nd degree black-belt recommended. The rest of the family has attained 1st degree or higher and enough trophies to need their own room. In the summer I like to sail, ski, scuba-dive, snorkel and spearfi sh.
