Highlights of the Round

The major highlight of the round was the U9 STARS WINNING THE PENNANT IN THEIR DIVISION AT THE LIGHTNING CARNIVAL MAZEL-TOV TO THE TEAM

The other highlights were of the 14 matches played for the U10-U17 teams (as the U14 Comets had a bye) 5 teams recorded wins and all would have enjoyed singing the AJAX song after the match

The round saw the U10 Jets win their 5th consecutive win

Playing against the top of the ladder team Joshrsquos U11 Jets encountered a tough day on the field however he would have proud to have reached his 50th game milestone

The U9rsquos played their Lightning Carnival on Sunday with the U9 Comets and Jets playing their matches at the King George Reserve in Bentleigh East and the U9 Stars travelling to Murphyrsquos Reserve in Port Melbourne

Match Report

The final challenge for the season presented itself to our Under 9 Stars in the way of the Under 9 Lightning Premiership carnival at Port Melbourne All twenty four Ajax players were nervous but up for excitement that lay ahead

First game we came up against an opponent that we had just defeated during the season It was a dominating start by the Stars but we didnrsquot manage to kick the goals when the opportunity was there and went in at half time just behind It was a day when attack on the football was paramount and even though the Stars demonstrated their ability to win the ball we were out played in the end and lost by one point Not the start we had planned for and as a result it meant the next 2 games were must wins

Second game we met a team that had defeated us during the season so we knew a fast start was required to give the boys confidence to shut the opposition out and to cause an upset The boys lifted their intensity and tackled the opposition at all times to win possession time and time again As a result the hardness and team play of these Under 9 Stars gave us the result we were after with a 14 point victory

It all came down to the last game effectively the Grand Final as we need to win to put us in a position to take home the ultimate prize of the Lightening Premiership We were playing a team that we had not met during the season Coaches drilled into the boys before this game that it was last time together as the Under 9 Stars and they have an opportunity to do something that they can remember for many years to come It was time for these boys to give their best efforts for each other their supporters and for the Ajax football club

From the bounce the coaches could see something special from their boys as each and every player did their best for each other and went in to get the football like it was the last game they were ever going to play

The premiership was at stake here and the boys knew it Ajax out muscled the opposition from the bounce and played possession football like we had trained for all season It was run carry long kick to goal when we had possession and chase and tackle when we didnrsquot have it The result was a grand one with the Stars running away with a 41 point victory

We now awaited the final results to come in and it was going to be close with two teams in our group on the same winloss record The announcement was madehellipand that the Ajax Under 9 Stars had won the premiership by the barest of percentage margins and the euphoria was enormous Players coaches and supporters were jubilant and rightly so for this Ajax team of Auskick graduates in 2012 were now fully fledged Ajax football players in 2013

We accepted the pennant flag and sang the Ajax footy song that could have been heard from Port Melb to Port Douglas Every single one of the boys made a contribution to the team today and throughout the season grew as footballers - well done to all

The boys were FANTASTIC all season (Thursdays and Sundays) and made us very proud not only today but week in week out

So we look forward to next year and I sincerely hope every one of our team will be back as AJAX footballers in season 2014 Congratulations again a special day that will be with us all for a many years - we are very proud of the boys

This was the game that would determine the winner of the lightning premiership Unfortunately Ajax opened slowly with the breeze and failed to make best use of the wind The Jackers held an 8 point lead at the break but the Bentleigh big men were too strong and their runners broke through for goals when it counted

The Ajax Comets were too strong for the Waverley Park Hawks The defence held them well against the strong wind in the first half and the midfield and attacking players were at the top of their game with 9 goals in just 12 minutes in the second

Match Report St Pauls Silver were undefeated going into the lightning premiership and lost their first game to Bentleigh earlier in the day The Comets again defended strongly against the wind and attacked strongly when their turn came and finished the season with a brilliant six goal half against quality opposition

Summary The team was on top for virtually five of the six halves played but they werenrsquot quite good enough to win over the tall timber of Bentleigh in that first game They still capped off a fine season to finish runners up in their group and can feel proud of their achievements and their improvement over the year

It all came together very nicely in Game 3 and the Jets kept their best till last to finish the season off with an emphatic win over Beaumaris Multiple goals kickers including 3 from Grunfeld helped everyone forget about the artic bite in the air and finished the year off on a high Solid performance throughout the day by all players and Corey kicked goals in each of the games

Match Report What better way to finish off the season than a nail biting win in trying conditions In what was the first game back for a number of boys and we looked scratchy and didnt make full use of the howling wind

Great to see Jonah relish his forward role by kicking a couple of goals especially the sealer Josh Rotstein was in the play all day and repelled many attacks from CHB

Juzzy and Rory were strong in the ruck and Shosty was hard at the ball all day in his 50th game Zac was his usual industrious self and Brett had another cameo up forward to score a goal

Everyone is now really looking forward to a super competitive and hard-at-it showing in the Lightning Premiership next week

It was a disappointing day for the Ajax U11 Comets going down to Waverly Park by less than a kick The Comets were never switched on and were second to the ball They looked lethargic often being outnumbered

Despite that their ball skills and efficiency allowed them to stay in the game and at one point nearly stealing it Leading up to finals the players will need to be far more aggressive at the ball

Today the U11 Jets played top of the ladder Dingley Black in a do or die game to make the finals Having beaten Dingley in our previous encounter the boys were confident of matching it with the league leaders

Unfortunately Dingley came to win and matched Ajax in their ferocity at the contest and hunger for the ball In the end they were simply too strong and too good although the Jets never stopped trying Playing in difficult conditions the Jets just couldnrsquot hit the scoreboard and were overwhelmed by 21 points

It has been a while since the boys have had a win and they celebrated hard singing the club song for all to hear In a very windy day with only one scoring end (only a single point was kicked at the non windy side for the day) the boys took advantage of the wind in the 3 quarter and kicked 5 goals Ormond was only able to kick 2 goals in the last qtr giving the boys a 10 point win Good to see Tyler out supporting his team whilst recovered from an elbow injury

It was a cold and windswept afternoon that the Stars travelled south to play St Bedes Last time these teams met Ajax thumped St Bedes 139 to nil so there was much anticipation in the air

At quarter time St Bedes were up by a goal and a point and there was shock and awe on our boys faces After a well-deserved spray by the coaches our boys focused on the ball and with the wind at their backs they took the lead albeit in a scrappy contest

With the wind supporting St Bedes in the 3td Qtr Ajax did well to keep the ball in the forward half for most of the play and held onto their lead of 18 points

So when Ajax stepped up to begin the final quarter it was only a matter of time before the goals would be converted Within 2 minutes Lipp scored the first goal of the qtr and Ajax went on to win by 45 points Chrapot was back to his goal-scoring best and Grunfeldrsquos play was gritty and his tackling was an inspiration to all

Today 13 Jackettes played at Moorleigh Reserve in an Elimination Final against the team we played last week The game was played in slippery muddy amp windy conditions

The Jackettes showed lots of endeavour and desperation during the 4 quarters as they ran hard tackled hard fought for the ball and backed up and supported each other They gave 100 effort today and you cannot ask anything more than that

As the season progressed their skills improved and all girls are to be commended for their commitment and dedication not just for this game but for the 11 games played this season

The Jackettes will come back a bigger and stronger unit for next season

Match Report A flat start as a result of not being switched on before the game was the tale of the day Cheltenham took a 30 point lead in the first quarter and the boys werent able to recover from it The team put in a good effort in the second quarter but dropped off for the last two quarters

After playing 13 rounds of Home amp Away matches the BIG day arrives for the 2 x U10 teams (Comets amp Jets) next Sunday (287) when they participate in the 2013 Under 10 NAB Lightning Carnival

All teams are allocated into groups of 4 and play each other once in a modified round robin format Matches consist of 2x12 minute halves so itrsquos completely different to playing a home amp away match of 4 quarters

The team that is ranked the highest of the four (including percentage) at the completion of all round robin matches will be presented with the winners pennant

We wonrsquot roll out the red carpet for the playerrsquos arrival or have you sitting through the night listening to the CEO reading out individual votes from every round played however you will hear and witness the marvellous achievements for the season when the various awards are presented

Unwanted Outgrown footy boots ndash do you have any

Mt Scopus College is hoping to set up a footy boots loan scheme to assist boys who play only a few games of football for the college and donrsquot have their own boots

The college has sought the assistance of the AJFC and its members to donate any unwanted or outgrown footy boots either now or at the end of the season They are particularly after sizes 6-10 boots for boys in Years 7-10

If anyone of the AJFC community has any unwanted or outgrown footy boots they would like to donate to Mt Scopus you can

1 Place them in a bag addressed to ldquofooty boots loan schemerdquo and leave them in the ldquolost propertyrdquo

bin located in the AJFC club-rooms or alternatively

The U9rsquos played their Lightning Carnival on Sunday with the U9 Comets and Jets playing their matches at the King George Reserve in Bentleigh East and the U9 Stars travelling to Murphyrsquos Reserve in Port Melbourne

The final challenge for the season presented itself to our Under 9 Stars in the way of the Under 9 Lightning Premiership carnival at Port Melbourne All twenty four Ajax players were nervous but up for excitement that lay ahead

First game we came up against an opponent that we had just defeated during the season It was a dominating start by the Stars but we didnrsquot manage to kick the goals when the opportunity was there and went in at half time just behind It was a day when attack on the football was paramount and even though the Stars demonstrated their ability to win the ball we were out played in the end and lost by one point Not the start we had planned for and as a result it meant the next 2 games were must wins

Second game we met a team that had defeated us during the season so we knew a fast start was required to give the boys confidence to shut the opposition out and to cause an upset The boys lifted their intensity and tackled the opposition at all times to win possession time and time again As a result the hardness and team play of these Under 9 Stars gave us the result we were after with a 14 point victory

It all came down to the last game effectively the Grand Final as we need to win to put us in a position to take home the ultimate prize of the Lightening Premiership We were playing a team that we had not met during the season Coaches drilled into the boys before this game that it was last time together as the Under 9 Stars and they have an opportunity to do something that they can remember for many years to come It was time for these boys to give their best efforts for each other their supporters and for the Ajax football club

From the bounce the coaches could see something special from their boys as each and every player did their best for each other and went in to get the football like it was the last game they were ever going to play

The premiership was at stake here and the boys knew it Ajax out muscled the opposition from the bounce and played possession football like we had trained for all season It was run carry long kick to goal when we had possession and chase and tackle when we didnrsquot have it The result was a grand one with the Stars running away with a 41 point victory

We now awaited the final results to come in and it was going to be close with two teams in our group on the same winloss record The announcement was madehellipand that the Ajax Under 9 Stars had won the premiership by the barest of percentage margins and the euphoria was enormous Players coaches and supporters were jubilant and rightly so for this Ajax team of Auskick graduates in 2012 were now fully fledged Ajax football players in 2013

We accepted the pennant flag and sang the Ajax footy song that could have been heard from Port Melb to Port Douglas Every single one of the boys made a contribution to the team today and throughout the season grew as footballers - well done to all

The boys were FANTASTIC all season (Thursdays and Sundays) and made us very proud not only today but week in week out

So we look forward to next year and I sincerely hope every one of our team will be back as AJAX footballers in season 2014 Congratulations again a special day that will be with us all for a many years - we are very proud of the boys

Match Report What better way to finish off the season than a nail biting win in trying conditions In what was the first game back for a number of boys and we looked scratchy and didnt make full use of the howling wind

Great to see Jonah relish his forward role by kicking a couple of goals especially the sealer Josh Rotstein was in the play all day and repelled many attacks from CHB

Juzzy and Rory were strong in the ruck and Shosty was hard at the ball all day in his 50th game Zac was his usual industrious self and Brett had another cameo up forward to score a goal

Everyone is now really looking forward to a super competitive and hard-at-it showing in the Lightning Premiership next week

Despite that their ball skills and efficiency allowed them to stay in the game and at one point nearly stealing it Leading up to finals the players will need to be far more aggressive at the ball

Today the U11 Jets played top of the ladder Dingley Black in a do or die game to make the finals Having beaten Dingley in our previous encounter the boys were confident of matching it with the league leaders

Unfortunately Dingley came to win and matched Ajax in their ferocity at the contest and hunger for the ball In the end they were simply too strong and too good although the Jets never stopped trying Playing in difficult conditions the Jets just couldnrsquot hit the scoreboard and were overwhelmed by 21 points

It has been a while since the boys have had a win and they celebrated hard singing the club song for all to hear In a very windy day with only one scoring end (only a single point was kicked at the non windy side for the day) the boys took advantage of the wind in the 3 quarter and kicked 5 goals Ormond was only able to kick 2 goals in the last qtr giving the boys a 10 point win Good to see Tyler out supporting his team whilst recovered from an elbow injury

It was a cold and windswept afternoon that the Stars travelled south to play St Bedes Last time these teams met Ajax thumped St Bedes 139 to nil so there was much anticipation in the air

At quarter time St Bedes were up by a goal and a point and there was shock and awe on our boys faces After a well-deserved spray by the coaches our boys focused on the ball and with the wind at their backs they took the lead albeit in a scrappy contest

With the wind supporting St Bedes in the 3td Qtr Ajax did well to keep the ball in the forward half for most of the play and held onto their lead of 18 points

So when Ajax stepped up to begin the final quarter it was only a matter of time before the goals would be converted Within 2 minutes Lipp scored the first goal of the qtr and Ajax went on to win by 45 points Chrapot was back to his goal-scoring best and Grunfeldrsquos play was gritty and his tackling was an inspiration to all

Today 13 Jackettes played at Moorleigh Reserve in an Elimination Final against the team we played last week The game was played in slippery muddy amp windy conditions

The Jackettes showed lots of endeavour and desperation during the 4 quarters as they ran hard tackled hard fought for the ball and backed up and supported each other They gave 100 effort today and you cannot ask anything more than that

As the season progressed their skills improved and all girls are to be commended for their commitment and dedication not just for this game but for the 11 games played this season

All teams are allocated into groups of 4 and play each other once in a modified round robin format Matches consist of 2x12 minute halves so itrsquos completely different to playing a home amp away match of 4 quarters

The team that is ranked the highest of the four (including percentage) at the completion of all round robin matches will be presented with the winners pennant

Unwanted Outgrown footy boots ndash do you have any

Mt Scopus College is hoping to set up a footy boots loan scheme to assist boys who play only a few games of football for the college and donrsquot have their own boots

The college has sought the assistance of the AJFC and its members to donate any unwanted or outgrown footy boots either now or at the end of the season They are particularly after sizes 6-10 boots for boys in Years 7-10

If anyone of the AJFC community has any unwanted or outgrown footy boots they would like to donate to Mt Scopus you can

1 Place them in a bag addressed to ldquofooty boots loan schemerdquo and leave them in the ldquolost propertyrdquo

bin located in the AJFC club-rooms or alternatively

It was a cold and windswept afternoon that the Stars travelled south to play St Bedes Last time these teams met Ajax thumped St Bedes 139 to nil so there was much anticipation in the air

At quarter time St Bedes were up by a goal and a point and there was shock and awe on our boys faces After a well-deserved spray by the coaches our boys focused on the ball and with the wind at their backs they took the lead albeit in a scrappy contest

With the wind supporting St Bedes in the 3td Qtr Ajax did well to keep the ball in the forward half for most of the play and held onto their lead of 18 points

So when Ajax stepped up to begin the final quarter it was only a matter of time before the goals would be converted Within 2 minutes Lipp scored the first goal of the qtr and Ajax went on to win by 45 points Chrapot was back to his goal-scoring best and Grunfeldrsquos play was gritty and his tackling was an inspiration to all

Today 13 Jackettes played at Moorleigh Reserve in an Elimination Final against the team we played last week The game was played in slippery muddy amp windy conditions

The Jackettes showed lots of endeavour and desperation during the 4 quarters as they ran hard tackled hard fought for the ball and backed up and supported each other They gave 100 effort today and you cannot ask anything more than that

As the season progressed their skills improved and all girls are to be commended for their commitment and dedication not just for this game but for the 11 games played this season

After playing 13 rounds of Home amp Away matches the BIG day arrives for the 2 x U10 teams (Comets amp Jets) next Sunday (287) when they participate in the 2013 Under 10 NAB Lightning Carnival

All teams are allocated into groups of 4 and play each other once in a modified round robin format Matches consist of 2x12 minute halves so itrsquos completely different to playing a home amp away match of 4 quarters

The team that is ranked the highest of the four (including percentage) at the completion of all round robin matches will be presented with the winners pennant

Unwanted Outgrown footy boots ndash do you have any

Mt Scopus College is hoping to set up a footy boots loan scheme to assist boys who play only a few games of football for the college and donrsquot have their own boots

The college has sought the assistance of the AJFC and its members to donate any unwanted or outgrown footy boots either now or at the end of the season They are particularly after sizes 6-10 boots for boys in Years 7-10

If anyone of the AJFC community has any unwanted or outgrown footy boots they would like to donate to Mt Scopus you can

1 Place them in a bag addressed to ldquofooty boots loan schemerdquo and leave them in the ldquolost propertyrdquo

The final challenge for the season presented itself to our Under 9 Stars in the way of the Under 9 Lightning Premiership carnival at Port Melbourne All twenty four Ajax players were nervous but up for excitement that lay ahead

First game we came up against an opponent that we had just defeated during the season It was a dominating start by the Stars but we didnrsquot manage to kick the goals when the opportunity was there and went in at half time just behind It was a day when attack on the football was paramount and even though the Stars demonstrated their ability to win the ball we were out played in the end and lost by one point Not the start we had planned for and as a result it meant the next 2 games were must wins

Second game we met a team that had defeated us during the season so we knew a fast start was required to give the boys confidence to shut the opposition out and to cause an upset The boys lifted their intensity and tackled the opposition at all times to win possession time and time again As a result the hardness and team play of these Under 9 Stars gave us the result we were after with a 14 point victory

It all came down to the last game effectively the Grand Final as we need to win to put us in a position to take home the ultimate prize of the Lightening Premiership We were playing a team that we had not met during the season Coaches drilled into the boys before this game that it was last time together as the Under 9 Stars and they have an opportunity to do something that they can remember for many years to come It was time for these boys to give their best efforts for each other their supporters and for the Ajax football club

From the bounce the coaches could see something special from their boys as each and every player did their best for each other and went in to get the football like it was the last game they were ever going to play

The premiership was at stake here and the boys knew it Ajax out muscled the opposition from the bounce and played possession football like we had trained for all season It was run carry long kick to goal when we had possession and chase and tackle when we didnrsquot have it The result was a grand one with the Stars running away with a 41 point victory

We now awaited the final results to come in and it was going to be close with two teams in our group on the same winloss record The announcement was madehellipand that the Ajax Under 9 Stars had won the premiership by the barest of percentage margins and the euphoria was enormous Players coaches and supporters were jubilant and rightly so for this Ajax team of Auskick graduates in 2012 were now fully fledged Ajax football players in 2013

We accepted the pennant flag and sang the Ajax footy song that could have been heard from Port Melb to Port Douglas Every single one of the boys made a contribution to the team today and throughout the season grew as footballers - well done to all

The boys were FANTASTIC all season (Thursdays and Sundays) and made us very proud not only today but week in week out

So we look forward to next year and I sincerely hope every one of our team will be back as AJAX footballers in season 2014 Congratulations again a special day that will be with us all for a many years - we are very proud of the boys

Today 13 Jackettes played at Moorleigh Reserve in an Elimination Final against the team we played last week The game was played in slippery muddy amp windy conditions

The Jackettes showed lots of endeavour and desperation during the 4 quarters as they ran hard tackled hard fought for the ball and backed up and supported each other They gave 100 effort today and you cannot ask anything more than that

As the season progressed their skills improved and all girls are to be commended for their commitment and dedication not just for this game but for the 11 games played this season

Mt Scopus College is hoping to set up a footy boots loan scheme to assist boys who play only a few games of football for the college and donrsquot have their own boots

The college has sought the assistance of the AJFC and its members to donate any unwanted or outgrown footy boots either now or at the end of the season They are particularly after sizes 6-10 boots for boys in Years 7-10

If anyone of the AJFC community has any unwanted or outgrown footy boots they would like to donate to Mt Scopus you can

1 Place them in a bag addressed to ldquofooty boots loan schemerdquo and leave them in the ldquolost propertyrdquo

bin located in the AJFC club-rooms or alternatively

The premiership was at stake here and the boys knew it Ajax out muscled the opposition from the bounce and played possession football like we had trained for all season It was run carry long kick to goal when we had possession and chase and tackle when we didnrsquot have it The result was a grand one with the Stars running away with a 41 point victory

We now awaited the final results to come in and it was going to be close with two teams in our group on the same winloss record The announcement was madehellipand that the Ajax Under 9 Stars had won the premiership by the barest of percentage margins and the euphoria was enormous Players coaches and supporters were jubilant and rightly so for this Ajax team of Auskick graduates in 2012 were now fully fledged Ajax football players in 2013

We accepted the pennant flag and sang the Ajax footy song that could have been heard from Port Melb to Port Douglas Every single one of the boys made a contribution to the team today and throughout the season grew as footballers - well done to all

The boys were FANTASTIC all season (Thursdays and Sundays) and made us very proud not only today but week in week out

So we look forward to next year and I sincerely hope every one of our team will be back as AJAX footballers in season 2014 Congratulations again a special day that will be with us all for a many years - we are very proud of the boys

Match Report What better way to finish off the season than a nail biting win in trying conditions In what was the first game back for a number of boys and we looked scratchy and didnt make full use of the howling wind

Great to see Jonah relish his forward role by kicking a couple of goals especially the sealer Josh Rotstein was in the play all day and repelled many attacks from CHB

Juzzy and Rory were strong in the ruck and Shosty was hard at the ball all day in his 50th game Zac was his usual industrious self and Brett had another cameo up forward to score a goal

Everyone is now really looking forward to a super competitive and hard-at-it showing in the Lightning Premiership next week

Today the U11 Jets played top of the ladder Dingley Black in a do or die game to make the finals Having beaten Dingley in our previous encounter the boys were confident of matching it with the league leaders

Unfortunately Dingley came to win and matched Ajax in their ferocity at the contest and hunger for the ball In the end they were simply too strong and too good although the Jets never stopped trying Playing in difficult conditions the Jets just couldnrsquot hit the scoreboard and were overwhelmed by 21 points

Juzzy and Rory were strong in the ruck and Shosty was hard at the ball all day in his 50th game Zac was his usual industrious self and Brett had another cameo up forward to score a goal

It was a cold and windswept afternoon that the Stars travelled south to play St Bedes Last time these teams met Ajax thumped St Bedes 139 to nil so there was much anticipation in the air

At quarter time St Bedes were up by a goal and a point and there was shock and awe on our boys faces After a well-deserved spray by the coaches our boys focused on the ball and with the wind at their backs they took the lead albeit in a scrappy contest

With the wind supporting St Bedes in the 3td Qtr Ajax did well to keep the ball in the forward half for most of the play and held onto their lead of 18 points

So when Ajax stepped up to begin the final quarter it was only a matter of time before the goals would be converted Within 2 minutes Lipp scored the first goal of the qtr and Ajax went on to win by 45 points Chrapot was back to his goal-scoring best and Grunfeldrsquos play was gritty and his tackling was an inspiration to all

The Jackettes showed lots of endeavour and desperation during the 4 quarters as they ran hard tackled hard fought for the ball and backed up and supported each other They gave 100 effort today and you cannot ask anything more than that

As the season progressed their skills improved and all girls are to be commended for their commitment and dedication not just for this game but for the 11 games played this season

You donrsquot need to camp out overnight to obtain a ticket as you are guaranteed entry and a seat at this prestigious event

We wonrsquot roll out the red carpet for the playerrsquos arrival or have you sitting through the night listening to the CEO reading out individual votes from every round played however you will hear and witness the marvellous achievements for the season when the various awards are presented

Unwanted Outgrown footy boots ndash do you have any

Mt Scopus College is hoping to set up a footy boots loan scheme to assist boys who play only a few games of football for the college and donrsquot have their own boots

The college has sought the assistance of the AJFC and its members to donate any unwanted or outgrown footy boots either now or at the end of the season They are particularly after sizes 6-10 boots for boys in Years 7-10

If anyone of the AJFC community has any unwanted or outgrown footy boots they would like to donate to Mt Scopus you can

1 Place them in a bag addressed to ldquofooty boots loan schemerdquo and leave them in the ldquolost propertyrdquo

bin located in the AJFC club-rooms or alternatively

Club Presentation Night ndash Save the Date

An IMPORTANT event for the AJFC is soon approaching If you thought the 2013 Brownlow Medal Night or the AFL Grand Final are the main events on the AFL calendar then think again

The ldquonight of all nightsrdquo for the AJFC is the 2013 Presentation Night and you are all invited

You donrsquot need to camp out overnight to obtain a ticket as you are guaranteed entry and a seat at this prestigious event

We wonrsquot roll out the red carpet for the playerrsquos arrival or have you sitting through the night listening to the CEO reading out individual votes from every round played however you will hear and witness the marvellous achievements for the season when the various awards are presented

To add some entertainment to the night we may even screen a video for you to watch and enjoy

This prestigious night will be held from 500pm to 700pm at the National Theatre inSt Kilda on Sunday 8 September 2013

Lock away this date in your diary and we will see you there

Unwanted Outgrown footy boots ndash do you have any

Mt Scopus College is hoping to set up a footy boots loan scheme to assist boys who play only a few games of football for the college and donrsquot have their own boots

The college has sought the assistance of the AJFC and its members to donate any unwanted or outgrown footy boots either now or at the end of the season They are particularly after sizes 6-10 boots for boys in Years 7-10

If anyone of the AJFC community has any unwanted or outgrown footy boots they would like to donate to Mt Scopus you can

1 Place them in a bag addressed to ldquofooty boots loan schemerdquo and leave them in the ldquolost propertyrdquo

bin located in the AJFC club-rooms or alternatively

2 send an email to publicityajfccomau for details regarding an alternative collection

It was a disappointing day for the Ajax U11 Comets going down to Waverly Park by less than a kick The Comets were never switched on and were second to the ball They looked lethargic often being outnumbered

Despite that their ball skills and efficiency allowed them to stay in the game and at one point nearly stealing it Leading up to finals the players will need to be far more aggressive at the ball

Today the U11 Jets played top of the ladder Dingley Black in a do or die game to make the finals Having beaten Dingley in our previous encounter the boys were confident of matching it with the league leaders

Unfortunately Dingley came to win and matched Ajax in their ferocity at the contest and hunger for the ball In the end they were simply too strong and too good although the Jets never stopped trying Playing in difficult conditions the Jets just couldnrsquot hit the scoreboard and were overwhelmed by 21 points

Special mention to Josh Bursztyn and Max Rosenberg who celebrated their 50th game Go Jets

It has been a while since the boys have had a win and they celebrated hard singing the club song for all to hear In a very windy day with only one scoring end (only a single point was kicked at the non windy side for the day) the boys took advantage of the wind in the 3 quarter and kicked 5 goals Ormond was only able to kick 2 goals in the last qtr giving the boys a 10 point win Good to see Tyler out supporting his team whilst recovered from an elbow injury

The win was a great way to celebrate ldquoHoodyrdquo Levinersquos 50th game today ndash well done boys

Match Report Blustery conditions and congested play made it difficult today Jackers started off well and tried hard all day but struggled to capitalise on the scoreboard Nevertheless coaches were reasonably pleased with the effort and look forward to a good week of training followed by a four quarter effort in the final game next week

It was a cold and windswept afternoon that the Stars travelled south to play St Bedes Last time these teams met Ajax thumped St Bedes 139 to nil so there was much anticipation in the air

At quarter time St Bedes were up by a goal and a point and there was shock and awe on our boys faces After a well-deserved spray by the coaches our boys focused on the ball and with the wind at their backs they took the lead albeit in a scrappy contest

With the wind supporting St Bedes in the 3td Qtr Ajax did well to keep the ball in the forward half for most of the play and held onto their lead of 18 points

So when Ajax stepped up to begin the final quarter it was only a matter of time before the goals would be converted Within 2 minutes Lipp scored the first goal of the qtr and Ajax went on to win by 45 points Chrapot was back to his goal-scoring best and Grunfeldrsquos play was gritty and his tackling was an inspiration to all

Today 13 Jackettes played at Moorleigh Reserve in an Elimination Final against the team we played last week The game was played in slippery muddy amp windy conditions

The Jackettes showed lots of endeavour and desperation during the 4 quarters as they ran hard tackled hard fought for the ball and backed up and supported each other They gave 100 effort today and you cannot ask anything more than that

As the season progressed their skills improved and all girls are to be commended for their commitment and dedication not just for this game but for the 11 games played this season

The Jackettes will come back a bigger and stronger unit for next season

All the Jackettes and parents should be proud of their efforts this year and we will shortly have a get-together to acknowledge their 1

Match Report A flat start as a result of not being switched on before the game was the tale of the day Cheltenham took a 30 point lead in the first quarter and the boys werent able to recover from it The team put in a good effort in the second quarter but dropped off for the last two quarters

After playing 13 rounds of Home amp Away matches the BIG day arrives for the 2 x U10 teams (Comets amp Jets) next Sunday (287) when they participate in the 2013 Under 10 NAB Lightning Carnival

All teams are allocated into groups of 4 and play each other once in a modified round robin format Matches consist of 2x12 minute halves so itrsquos completely different to playing a home amp away match of 4 quarters

The team that is ranked the highest of the four (including percentage) at the completion of all round robin matches will be presented with the winners pennant

Match Report A flat start as a result of not being switched on before the game was the tale of the day Cheltenham took a 30 point lead in the first quarter and the boys werent able to recover from it The team put in a good effort in the second quarter but dropped off for the last two quarters

U10rsquos Lightning Carnival Information

After playing 13 rounds of Home amp Away matches the BIG day arrives for the 2 x U10 teams (Comets amp Jets) next Sunday (287) when they participate in the 2013 Under 10 NAB Lightning Carnival

All teams are allocated into groups of 4 and play each other once in a modified round robin format Matches consist of 2x12 minute halves so itrsquos completely different to playing a home amp away match of 4 quarters

The team that is ranked the highest of the four (including percentage) at the completion of all round robin matches will be presented with the winners pennant

AJAXrsquos has put a dent in final hopes after an agonising narrow defeat to Parkdale Vultures going down 67 (43) to 510 (40) away in horrendous conditions on the weekend The side now sits two games out of the top four with five games remaining the season heavy rain and strong

winds the Jackas fought

hard all day but eventually

fell just short despite

keeping its opposition to

just two behinds in the

final term

The hosts came firing out

of the blocks early putting

on the first two majors of

was short-lived with Parkdale regaining its advantage just before the main break

With the conditions getting no better in the second half it was the home team that was able to get the edge on the Jackas Parkdale slotted three goals to Rubin Winogradrsquos one in the third quarter to jump out to a 10-point lead heading into the last term

The hosts came firing out of the blocks early putting on the first two majors of the day in quick succession

But returning big man Jason Seidl hit back for the visitors before Jason Tendler got AJAX to within two points at the first break with a late roving goal

Both sides struggled to gain momentum in the second term as clean ball use was at a minimum in a sloppy encounter

In heavy rain and strong winds the Jackas fought hard all day but eventually fell just short despite keeping its opposition to just two behinds in the final term

Nick Marks managed a long bomb out of a congested pack to give the Jackas the lead but it

AJAX was able to hold out its opposition in the final stanza defending boldly to keep them goalless

Skipper Marcus Jankie could have given the Jackas the lead late in the match but his set shot sailed wide and Parkdale was able to hold on for the tight victory

The Reserves also failed to pick up the points after falling seven-goals short

Under 19lsquos

AJAX were certainly in the game throughout the day they started with a strong 1st quarter to lead 22 to 15 but the ball was slippery and clean

possessions let alone marks were extremely difficult in very trying conditions

The boys got to within 7 pts at 34 time after slogging it out in 3rd to keep opponents score-less

A goal in the last 5 mins gave us a sniff but Northern Blues answered to run out deserving 14 pt winners

AJAXrsquos has put a dent in final hopes after an agonising narrow defeat to Parkdale Vultures going down 67 (43) to 510 (40) away in horrendous conditions on the weekend The side now sits two games out of the top four with five games remaining the season heavy rain and strong

winds the Jackas fought

hard all day but eventually

fell just short despite

keeping its opposition to

just two behinds in the

The hosts came firing out

of the blocks early putting

on the first two majors of

was short-lived with Parkdale regaining its advantage just before the main break

With the conditions getting no better in the second half it was the home team that was able to get the edge on the Jackas Parkdale slotted three goals to Rubin Winogradrsquos one in the third quarter to jump out to a 10-point lead heading into the last term

The hosts came firing out of the blocks early putting on the first two majors of the day in quick succession

But returning big man Jason Seidl hit back for the visitors before Jason Tendler got AJAX to within two points at the first break with a late roving goal

Both sides struggled to gain momentum in the second term as clean ball use was at a minimum in a sloppy encounter

Skipper Marcus Jankie could have given the Jackas the lead late in the match but his set shot sailed wide and Parkdale was able to hold on for the tight victory

The Reserves also failed to pick up the points after falling seven-goals short

Under 19lsquos

AJAX were certainly in the game throughout the day they started with a strong 1st quarter to lead 22 to 15 but the ball was slippery and clean

possessions let alone marks were extremely difficult in very trying conditions

The boys got to within 7 pts at 34 time after slogging it out in 3rd to keep opponents score-less

A goal in the last 5 mins gave us a sniff but Northern Blues answered to run out deserving 14 pt winners
