The studio sound engineering module provides the necessary foundational theoretical knowledge required to record and mix audio with confidence, passion and understanding.

MUSIC PRODUCTION TECHNIQUE ISUBJECT NAME: MPT101MODULE CREDITS: 30

Music Production Technique 101 Covers all key modern production elements including: beat making, bass lines, pads, leads and vocal production.

MUSIC PRODUCTION SOFTWARESUBJECT NAME: MPS101MODULE CREDITS: 25

The MPS101 module comprises of two parts: Pro tools 101 and 110. Students will learn to build sessions designed forcommercial purposes and improve the end results of their recordings, editing, and mixing efforts. The exercises provide experience in setting up sessions, importing media, working with digital video, spotting sound effects, using loop recording and MIDI Merge techniques. It also includes working with virtual instruments, warping with Elastic Audio, applying real-time properties, creating clip loops, applying signal processing, using automation and using sub mixes and track groups to simplify a final mix. This course provides the training required to prepare for the Avid Certified User exam.

Modern Music Theory 101 comprises of traditional ideas and concepts which are applied within a DAW environment to grow musical theoretical understanding. Students engage with a variety of musical material including contemporary styles and genres.

EAR TRAINING ISUBJECT NAME: MET101MODULE CREDITS: 5

Musical Ear Training 101 is an intensive ear training program. Critical and analytical listening skills are key for producers. The module provides practical exercises and drills necessary to refine the perception of musical sound and enhance critical listening skills essential to engineers and producers.

The Pro Tools for Game Audio course provides students with exposure to the core skills, workflow, and concepts involved in creating and implementing game audio using Pro Tools systems. STUDIO MANAGER - The studio manager controls the business side of the recording studio, including the booking of artists to record, scheduling engineers, marketing and budgeting. The manager also takes care of financial transactions with clients.

RECORDING ENGINEER - The Recording engineer manages recording sessions in collaboration with a producer. Recording engineers control the mixing desk and electrical equipment during a music recording – including the set-up and mix-down of the recorded tracks.

ASSISTANT ENGINEER - The assistant engineer helps the recording engineer with setup, recording tracks, and mixing.

PRODUCER - A Producer is the creative leader of a studio / film / recording project.Producers need to have the ability to incorporate their own creative ideas and sound design into productions. Producers work with recording acts and record labels to produce records, and with composers to produce sound recordings for various forms of multimedia. The producer also needs to manage the whole recording process. A producer should be an experienced musician with comprehensive musical, acoustical, and studio technical understanding.

ACOUSTIC CONSULTANT - Acoustic consultants provide audio, video, and acoustic design services for performance spaces and studios. They need to be able to conduct acoustical analysis of venues and spaces, identify audio problems, and recommend the optimum gear and interior design that will deliver the best sound.

COMPOSER - Composers create music from scratch – either standalone instrumental pieces or combined with lyrics. Musical compositions include writing functional music to a specific brief (like scores for film/TV/games) and creating music live performance and recording purposes.

FILM ARRANGER - The film arranger provides musical arrangements of a musical composition or song for film and/or TV usage. The arranger determines the voice, instrument, harmonic structure, rhythm, tempo, and other aspects of a song or composition, based on the conductor or film producer's specifications. Training in music theory, orchestration, composition, and harmony is required. An arranger should have experience as a copyist, writing music, and playing one or more instruments.

ARRANGER - A music arranger works with other artists’ compositions. Keeping to the specifications and brief of the composer / artist / producer, the arranger determines the voicing, instrumentation, harmonic structure, rhythm, tempo, and other aspects of a song or composition. Musical arrangers should have comprehensive knowledge of music theory, harmony, keyboard technique, orchestration and composition.

SONGWRITER - PRODUCER - A songwriter-producer creates their own material and manage the complete process. This will include composing the song, decide on the method of record-ing and arrangement; select session musicians and engineers, and oversee the recording and production of the material.

DIGITAL AUDIO EDITOR - The digital audio editor collaborates with sound designers, compos-ers, and directors to combine audio, music, sound effects and dialogue in a meticulous digital environment.

MIDI ARRANGER - MIDI arrangers work in a digital music production field and creates MIDI arrangements of a composition. The MIDI arranger needs to be sensitive to the brief and specifications of the client.

MUSIC BUSINESS ENTREPRENEUR - Entrepreneurs in the music industry create, organize and manage music business endeavors.

PRODUCT REPRESENTATIVE - The product representative demonstrates the newest audio/MIDI software and musical instrument technology.

RETAIL SALES MANAGER - A retail sales manager manages and operates a retail music store – including budgeting and financial planning; ordering, logistical planning and promotion of products; and employee supervision

STUDIO MUSICIAN - A Studio musician plays and programs synthesizers and contemporary instruments in the studio. Excellent instrument playing ability and music production skills are needed.

BACKGROUND VOCALIST - Backing vocalists supports other singers and musicians during live gigs, on recordings, or commercials. The backing vocalist should be experienced in reading music; and have good harmonization and improvisation skills.

MUSIC LIBRARIAN - Music librarians usually work at an educational institution such a school, college, or university, and deals with the cataloging of books, scores, recordings, and other music-related resource material.

PRODUCTION ASSISTANT - The production assistant helps the producer with many tasks such as handling the studio schedule and communication, organizing of session musicians, and assisting in the setup of the session.
