We use there is / there are to talk or ask about what exists when we are
describing something in the present.
Example:
- There is a hospital near my house.
- There are two entrances to this building.
- There isn’t a car park near the theatre.
- There aren’t many parks near the school.

We form the imperative with the short infinitive of the verb (without to). It has the
same form for the singular and the plural.
Example:
- Go to the market, Mike!
- Go to the market, boys!
The negative is formed with don’t.
Example:
- Don’t go to the market, Mike!
- Don’t go to the market, boys!
To be more polite, we often add the word please.
Example:
- Turn around, please!
- Please don’t walk on the grass.
