Volunteer Sector- Larkhall Athletic FC Jamie Gillum Key Information Explanati on- Larkhall Athletic FC Sporting Organiza tion A Volunteer sector is an organisation open to anyone who isnt playing at the top level but want to play still. It also gives people a chance to play sport in their spare time. Larkhall Athletic is a football club that is a local club who play in the Western League (a part time club). Their players dont get paid as they are amateurs. The Sport(s) with which each is associated Volunteer sports are associated with every sport. Local councils will set up organisations for football, rugby, cricket etc. Larkhall Athletic is associated with football and has a mens and womens team. Organisational Aims Volunteer organisations are set up by ordinary people and they aim to help others in the local community to play in sport. They volunteer to create the club for local people. The aims of Larkhall Athletic are to create a team for bright players to play sport and try to make it into the top levels. It is also for players who want to play the sport. Target Groups Volunteer organisations target people who want to play sport but arent at the top level yet, but want to do something practical. It mostly targets youths and young adults. Larkhall Athletic target young adults who havent quite made it into professional or semi-pro clubs, or players who are just starting off. Standards of Facilities and Services Volunteer organisations will often use facilities which are owned by other sectors (like private), or build their own using lottery funding or grants given. Larkhall Athletic use their own pitch called The Plain Ham Ground in which they had built for them. Pricing Structure Volunteer organisa tions will always have subs (subscriptions) in place to help keep the organisation funded . These will be paid every month. Players in Larkhall Athletic have to pay subs every month to help keep the club running and to help fund the equipment, officials, travel etc. Extent of Partnerships With Other Sectors Volunteer sectors are most often associated with public sectors. The public sectors help to fund the team to create the best environment and to help develop the stars. Larkhall Athletic arent linked with any of the other two as they receive their money from lottery funding, donations and subs.

Government GrantsAn award of financial assistance in the form of money by

the federal government to an eligible grantee with no

expectation that the funds will be paid back.

Larkhall FC havent had a government grant, but

could if they needed. They could go to the

football foundation and apply for a grant as they

are the largest funder of grassroots football in

the UK. They work with the FA, funded by the

Premier League, in unison with the Government.

Non Government GrantsIndependent private grants given and not expected to be

paid back, free of government control.

They dont get a non-government grant as thecompanies who sponsor them require

advertisement on kit, equipment etc.

Member LoansA loan offered by a group of members of the organisation

who work together to provide funds for a single borrower.

Larkhall Athletic FC wont receive any member

loans because they are volunteers and wont

have the money to pay back.

Financial Institution LoansA loan, which takes money from clients and places it in the

organisation and returned later on.

The same as member loans, Larkhall FC wont

have a financial institution loan as they wont

have the funds to pay back to the loanee.

Membership SubscriptionsA subscription made members to the organisation, as for a

periodical for a specified period of time or for a series of 

performances.

Larkhall Athletic players do have membership

subscription and receive a £30 deposit from each

player and then £10 a month (from October to

April) from each player.Lottery FundingMoney given to an organisation from the lottery.

Larkhall dont currently get lottery funding, but

have the right to apply for some the amount

they can apply for varies for different projects

and can receive grants from £300 to over

£500,000.

Private InvestmentA type of financial investment from people or businesses

which meets either of these criteria:

a) It has less than 100 investors, or

b) Its member investors have substantial funds invested

elsewhere.

Larkhall FC receives private investment from

sponsors like Tool Station, football.mitoo and

Bath Business Web (kit sponsor).

Donations

The making of a gift/giving of money especially to a charityor public institution.

Larkhall Athletic FC receives donations from

fundraisers they take part in. For example, afashion show ran on the 23

rdFebruary 2011 to

help fund the clubs officials, pitch, equipment,

kit etc.
