Oscar Mayer Wiener Mobile Visits Ridgewood One of our local grocery stores was having a promotion with the Oscar Mayer Wiener mobile on Friday November 14. One of our Life Enrichment team members, Clara, called the store and talked with the owner Paul and he arranged for the wiener mobile to come to Ridgewood. It was very

cold outside with a high of 27 degrees, so the residents all stayed inside and saw the mobile from a warm and cozy location; how-ever, several of our team members decided to brave the cold and went outside to look at the Oscar Mayer Wiener mobile.

In 2014, our Administrator, Joe

Caldwell, accepted the ice bucket

challenge from Glen Van Ecken,

President of Vetter Health Services,

our parent company.

Joe was a very good sport when

Life Enrichment team filled 6 pitch-

ers of ice cold water and several of

the residents simultaneously (or not)

poured all of the pitchers over Joe’s

head.

Move In Day

Having breakfast in the old and lunch in the new, resi-

dents moved into their new home a month ago on September 9,

2014. Stella Bridges, our longest residing resident, and Joe

Caldwell, our Administrator, were the first to cross the threshold

of our new home.

As we look back, it was amazing at how smooth and orga-

nized the day progressed. Jolene Zochol spent months organiz-

ing the resident moves and lining up volunteer help for the big

day.

Each department head worked on moving and setting up

their individual departments before the move day.

With help of many volunteers including Concordia stu-

dents, resident family members, team members and their family members, and Home

Office, all residents and their belongings were moved before lunch and before the rain

started! Forty-plus beds and forty-plus recliners were moved within an hour and half

thanks to the Concordia Wrestling and Basketball teams and their coaches. It was defi-

nitely a Team Effort.

The End of An Era:

After moving into our new home, team members and residents have had mixed emotions

about the old building. We love our new home but change is hard. Some of us had a moment of

reflection as we watched the old building go down very slowly and carefully. Team members and

some residents have had years of working and living in their old home. It was what we knew. As

the old building becomes a memory, we know that we will be able to create new memories in our

new home. We are very blessed to be here.

The Beginning of A New Era Our new home is finished! The newly remodeled

building has finally been completed. Our residents moved

in on September 9, 2014. As we sit in awe of the beauty of

the building, we must realize that it is the people inside that

make it even more beautiful and special. I keep reminding

our residents that they deserve to live in a beautiful home

such as this place. Thank you, Jack and Eldora and all of

the Vetter Health Services team members for giving us the

opportunity to work and live in our new HOME!

Residents Give Their Stamp of Approval On Their New Home

Residents were given the opportunity to leave their

hand prints in the wet cement of our new parking lot at

Ridgewood. With the help of Paul, the foreman, residents

were able to leave their “imprint” on their new home. It was

a little uncomfortable for some to think about how this was

going to happen. Now I am very excited to say it was suc-

cessful and exciting. Paul the foreman was exceptional with

his patience, kindness, and help. Residents are excited to

give their stamp of approval on their new home.
