A WRENCH FOR HEROES TO BENEFIT THE AMERICAN WARRIOR
GARAGE
American Warrior Garage is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit direct service provider located
in Bremen, Georgia to benefit veterans. As an automotive repair and restoration
shop, we are working with our supporters who have retail store locations
throughout the United States. This is a fundraising campaign to raise money so
we are able to purchase parts to restore a 1941 Ford Pickup. The sale of the
Pickup will benefit our nonprofit organization. The American Warrior Garage
Project fundraising program Kicks off with a six week campaign beginning Jan
15th , 2019 and ends on February 29th, 2020. Customers will be asked to contribute
$1 or more for a paper cut-out “American Flag Wrench” which can decorate
the walls of your stores. Funds raised from the “A Wrench for Heroes” will benefit
American Warrior Garage and are tax deductible.
AMERICAN WARRIOR GARAGE
OUR MISSION
American Warrior Garage’s mission is to help our warriors reintegrate into civilian life so they can continue being productive members of society. We
are an organization of volunteer veterans working for veterans. We are dedicated to providing the highest quality training and workmanship.
American Warrior Garage is 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization. Funding for this program comes from the sale of the project cars, automotive services,
powder coating, private donations and grants. All proceeds are returned to the company’s general fund to finance expansion, provide training and
scholarships so we can fulfill our mission. We provide direct hands-on experience and training with automotive restoration, customization and
maintenance. Service “By Vets for Vets”. All of our associates are volunteer veterans. We strive to help our Vets find purpose through work. Enabling
our injured Warriors by showing them they can work past injuries.
1941 FORD PICKUP AND “MAMA LOU”
This is the American Warrior Garage 1941 Ford. We plan to model it after the Douglas A20J Havoc Light Bomber “Mama Lou”, honoring WWII Veteran George V. Fritton. George the gunner on “Mama Lou”, is the inspiration for this build. Mr. Fritton is the
late father-in-law of American Warrior Garage (AWG) team member Chris Schafer. Please help us make it a reality by donating. The more money we raise, the more breathtaking the truck. The more dazzling the truck the higher the price and
more money will go directly to helping many more veterans.

A WRENCH FOR HEROES
Motivating Your Stores
The most successful stores are those that make a concentrated push during the first week of the campaign. It’s possible to reach the 500 goal in just one week if the crew is motivated. Here are some ideas on how you can help motivate your employees and customers:
Kick Off Day 1
Hang 10-30 wrenches on the wall. This will create interest and questions from customers. These wrenches can either be purchased/donated by the store. (sign them from store Manager or General Manager) or they may be purchased by customers (customers sign them right there on the wall). Hold a contest among crews to see who can sell the most Wrench for Heroes.
Compete with other Store locations in your area.
Promote the contest among local groups such as churches, schools and other businesses
Talk with employees directly about how they are helping to make a difference.
Insist on scripting & suggestive selling
During the Promotion
During the promotion, send us photos, videos and “great idea” stories that we can post to our website and social media. We’d love to recognize your great work and challenge others. Send images/videos to your marketing manager. We may post the best to the brand's social channels
SCRIPTING & SUGGESTIVE SELLING Suggestive selling to every guest is a vital component to this promotion. Please instruct your front line employees to complete each order with the following suggestive selling script:
“Would you like to donate $1 or more to support military veterans and families. Every dollar donated helps veterans and their families reintegrate back into civilian life”.

THE STORY BEHIND THE BUILD
Jimmy’s Customs of Wellington Colorado, has generously offered to restore the 1941 Ford “Mama Lou” free of charge, all we need to do is purchase the parts. All proceeds of the sale benefit American
Warrior Garage.
We plan to model the 1941 Ford after the Douglas A20J Havoc Light Attack Bomber “Moma Lou”, honoring WWII Veteran George V.
Fritton. George the gunner on “Mama Lou”, is the inspiration for this build. Mr. Fritton is the late father-in-law of American Warrior
Garage (AWG) team member Chris Schafer.
THE STORY BEHIND THE BUILD

“Mama Lou” Notice the U in “Lou” it almost looks like a W. This is from battle damage. You can see a swastika
between Joe and LT Keepers this is a painted over battle damage patch. In pictures you can see at least 3
different areas of battle damage that was patched and painted over with swastikas.

crew of “Mama Lou” sorry I do not have there names. Mama Lou flew over 127 combat missions over Europe in
WWII before being destroyed in a landing accident.

The Caterpillar Club is an informal association of people who have successfully used a parachute to bail out of a disabled aircraft. After authentication by the parachute maker, applicants receive a membership certificate and a distinctive lapel pin. The nationality of the person whose life was saved by parachute, and ownership of the aircraft are not factors in determining qualification for membership; anybody who has saved their life by using a parachute after bailing out of a disabled aircraft is eligible. The requirement that the aircraft is disabled naturally excludes parachuting enthusiasts in the normal course of a recreational jump, or those involved in military training jumps.

OUR BRAVE HEROES IN ACTION
One in Three men in the 9th Air Force were either killed in action or severally wounded. SSgt George Fritton was blessed to have survided the war without being wounded.
George and Bombardier Joe Trujillo bailed out over enemy territory in France while taking heavy Flack. They were rescued by French Resistance. Joe fractured his leg bailing out. George spoke French and they were able to evade the Nazi’s and return to their Unit unharmed. (There is more to the story).
BAILING OUT OVER ENEMY TERRITORY
The picture on the right is of an airmen bailing out of his aircraft. George Fritton and Joe Trujillo bailed out over enemy territory while taking heavy flack. They were position ferrying another aircraft and came under attack. They were flying with a different pilot and they thought he told them to bail out. Turns out the aircraft made it safely back to base minus George and Joe with the pilot wondering what happened to his crew.
Joe fractured his leg on landing. Scared and with Joe injured they were still able to evade the Nazi’s and avoid capture. Fortunately George spoke some French. Not all French were happy with us bombing their country but luckily they were picked up by friendlies and then transferred house to house by the French resistance. Eventually they made it back to their unit and continued fighting the war. Of course GI’s being GI’s they were ribbed for jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. Joe was upset the he didn’t receive a purple heart.
