DIFFERENT TEMPERATURE, DIFFERENT HUMIDITY, DIFFERENT PLEASURE

Traditional SaunaThe most commonly used form of bathing. The room is nearly always made of wood and should be kept at between 75-90°c with low humidity. Adding some water to the stones on the heater will increase the humidity and lower the temperature. This helps to open the pores and cleanse your skin.

An alternative form of bathing in the same room is to have it very very hot, 95-110°c without adding any water to create humidity. Doing it this way, the only way for your body to cool down is to perspire. This method is only enjoyed by toughened sauna bathers.

Steam SaunaA steam sauna is a gentler form of sauna bathing, also in a timber structured room. The temperature is lower than the traditional sauna, set between 45-65°c. An automatic and continuous supply of steam is produced to ensure a constant humidity of 40-60% but not 100% like in a steam room. A lot of people find this more comfortable than a traditional sauna, as your skin will not feel dry and breathing will feel easier.

You’ll find that both young and old people will enjoy this experience and that it’s very relaxing for both body and soul. It is ideal to add some herbs or fragrance for extra enjoyment. Pick your aroma to suit your mood.

Steam RoomA steam room is not to be confused with a steam sauna. A steam room should not be made out of wood - instead the room could be finished in glass, plastic, tiles or stone.

The temperature is normally kept between 38-45°c and the humidity at a constant 100%. It is a fantastic experience where light therapy and aromatherapy is very effective.

Infrared SaunaThe infra sauna is based on infrared radiation and has little in common with traditional sauna bathing, as such.

It does not heat the air in the room - instead it penetrates deep into the body and warms the skin. It is very popular with beauticians for skin treatment and is often used by sports people to ease tense muscles and sooth aches and pains.

Multi SaunaA multi sauna is a mix of traditional sauna and infrared heat. In one timber room we would install a sauna heater and one or more infrared heat panels.

This is the optimum solution as you do not have to wait for the sauna to heat up - instead you can enjoy the infrared heat while the sauna heater heats the room up. This will also satisfy the different preferences of the family.
