What Is An Acceptable Use Policy?
However simply having a AUP isn’t enough. Especially if users aren’t taught how to be responsible digital citizens. In most Acceptable Use Policies users are warned not to violate copyright laws; software licensing agreements; visit inappropriate websites; or to use the network to harass or cyberbully.

• Digital Citizenship is a concept which helps teachers, technology leaders and parents to understand what students/children/technology users should know to use technology appropriately.
• Digital Citizenship is more than just a teaching tool; it is a way to prepare students/technology users for a society full of technology.
• Digital citizenship is the norms of appropriate, responsible technology use.

Why Is Digital Citizenship Important
• New technologies bring problems that educators cannot foresee
• Technology is growing at an unbelievable pace
• Parents, students and educators can work together to integrate and responsibly use technology in the classroom and at home
